Its very easy to see why non enthusiasts could mistake the S for a miata. To some people a car is just a car. The miata is the best selling roadster of all time and many people don't even know that the S2000 even existed. That being said, the s2000 is still a much better looking car.

I know there is a world of differance between an s2000 and a Miata......I own both.....the 2006 S and 2004 turbo Miata.

Plus and minus to both. I really, really like the Miata.........but I love the s2000.

The Miata is going as soon a spring comes to Montana.

Lol, I remember when someone gave me a compliment about having a nice miata and I gave them a fake smile and hesitated for a split second to really think about it and I thought to myself...NAH!

A girl in my office is going to look at a Miata this week. She asked me if she bought it if she could park next to me. I told her no at first, but then said that she could as long as she remembers that I have more horsepower than she does.

Also I was watching Intervention on A&E last night and this guy was driving a car and showing off trying to beat someone off the line and I told my wife that he was driving a Nissan 300 ZX. Then they panned out and showed the whole car and she asked how I knew that from an interior shot of the guys face and the B pillar. I told her that I just recognized it.

Most people cant tell one car from the next.

I still belong to the local Miata club and at meetings my S is sometimes referred to as an ND (4th-gen) Miata and, to an uneducated observer, it would be believable.

If you think of all vehicles as a number line with a Lotus 7 clone as 0 and a Hummer H2 as 10, the Miata and S2000 are somewhere around 2.001 and 2.004 to most folks.

Post on miata.net today about the S2000:

"In simple terms, an S2000 is like a weaponized Miata. If that doesn't sound appealing, you probably should stay away from them. "
