Miatas are better than s2000s?
I am not one to mix myself in these kind of posts, but I have seen many miata owners bashing the s2k on different forums. Even older and wiser Miata owners do this some times.
Here, the people that do the Miata bashing are usually the younger guys who don't know what they are talking about. Most older and experienced people recognize it for what it is and give it the respect it deserves.
The miata is a great little bargain for a RWD roadster, but it cannot compare to an s2k in any way. Some jealous Miata owners seem to not understand that... I have seen comments like the s2k has no torque, doesn't handle better then a mustang....
Come-on

Comptech makes a pretty good Super now that they've gotten the majority of the big bugs out.. I don't know of any Turbo makers.
Personally, I'd go Super.
OTOH... (Old discussion happening) why not spend the money on driving school.. Most uf us could benefit from it i.e. the car is typically far more than most people (including seasoned drivers) can "master".
Just MHO.

Beg to differ, You seem to take comfort in the "if it costs more...must be more" ??? I have recently driven the s2k and the handling is not any better than the miata, in fact I prefer the Miatas handling (better feedback)...easier to whip. As for the acceleration, yes the s2k is much faster, yet turbo is not a problem on Miatas as the engine is turbo-friendly (scary). With regard to styling...I again prefer Miatas' exterior/interior.

Hey everyone, I'm one of those "lurking Miata owners"! A post on the Miata.net forum pointed to this thread, and after reading through your posts, I just had to respond.
First let me say that I LOVE the S2000
! It's an amazing car for a great price, particularly if you can get one at or slightly under MSRP (which unfortunately is still pretty tough). It's very nice/aggressive looking, very fast, and very fun -- 9000 redline can't be bad -- with 0 - 60 times well under 6 seconds, you're hunting in Boxter territory. In fact, now that Honda has put in a glass rear window, I'd say the S2000 is just about perfect.
Second let me say that I LOVE my Miata
! It handles like a dream, has sleek, sinuous lines, shifts with a flip of the wrist... in short, it's a blast to drive. I'm not beating any Vettes or M3s off the line, but I still have a ton of fun in the twisties.
Lastly, let me tell you that I appreciate the fact that most of you S2000 folks seem to respect the Miata. Nobody on the Miata forum seriously thinks the Miata is as fast as the S2000 (OK, there's always a deluded few that can't grasp reality), but we really enjoy the "feel" of our cars -- just like you enjoy your S2000!
You'll get no S2000 bashing from me... or from most of the folks on the Miata forum. We like the S2000 for the same reasons we like the Miata -- quick accelerating, go-kart handling, top down fun! And I for one have been seriously tempted to trade my beloved Miata in for a Suzuka Blue 2002 S2000.
