mine had a few.....about 142 miles, some (most) from my test drive, and the rest because the car was on their lot for almost 6 months before i bought it.....right after a nasty winter!

I worked at a Honda dealership some years ago, and every brand-new Honda we drove off the truck had either 11 or 13 miles on it.

I NEVER saw a new Honda with fewer than 11 miles on it, and I helped recieve hundreds of new Hondas in the time I worked there. I'm not calling anyone a liar, I'm just telling you all my observations. Not a single one had fewer than 11 miles on it.

A few years passed between the time I worked there and the time I bought my S. My S had 13 miles on it when it was driven off the truck. I got one if the high-mileage ones.

1.5 off the truck, 6 at delivery..

our element had 30, so i inquired about the extra mileage and the dealer stated that it was mileage incurred from moving it from service to the main lot and back again into storage.. bs if you ask me

i also work at a honda dealership and actually just yesterday i drove a '03 civic with only 1.5 miles on it. maybe all hondas shipped to california rack up more miles than other places.

It might be a load of shit but I'm picking mine up at a dealership that is getting it from another dealership. They aren't trucking it over so they told me one of their guys are going to drive it over. (Don't worry I flipped out and made sure me and my salesman go pick it up) But maybe something like that happend? It could of been driven from one dealership to another?

The car I ended up buying had 50-some miles on it when I test drove it.
I used the mileage as a bargaining chip and got 1K off sticker..
15 months later it's sipping oil and running like a champ.
Everyone has their own comfort level as to what constitutes "new." If you're okay with 58 miles, you may be able to use this vehicle's mileage to your advantage.

thanks for all the responses!

i wanted to be really sure of what i was being told, so i specifically asked if it was the policy of their *dealership* to drive each S2K 50 miles before offering it for sale, or if it was *honda* policy that each S2K be driven 50 miles (this was a loaded question, as i thought that i had read here once that several people had taken delivery with around 10 miles on the odo -- no way the "honda policy" could be true if cars were being bought elsewhere with 10 miles, but it is possible that this dealership could have a unique policy). the reply was that it was "honda policy."

i've been hearing crap like this ever since i have been dealing with car dealers. i absolutely do not understand why they say stuff that they know is not true, and that the customer can easily check out. i'm suspicious of claims they make anyway, but once i get told a whopper like this one the particular dealership loses all credibility. and likely a sale. i just don't get it.

anyway, thanks again to all who replied!
