Default Misshift under redline

If you misshift but the resulting shift doesn't run the engine over the redline, can it still be damaging just from the magnitude of the rpm shift in the engine. I'm new here, and i know when i first got my s2000 in the summer i must have done a misshift like that about 4 times, including one that screeched the rear tires.

it can be a little hard on the clutch/tranny/diff ... but I wouldn't worry about it hurting the engine at all. its better to rev match if you are going to go down more than one gear.

Please remember. In order to properly drive the high strung car like S2000, you need to be calm and collected at all time. Focus on driving and be smooth on shifting.

You are not racing anyone on the street. There isn't checkered flag and trophy waiting for you at the end of the next light.

I agree, you would not hurt the motor this way as you never drove it above its limits. Those kind of shifts put some stress on the drivetrain, but nothing to worry about (unless you continue to do it all the time, then I imagine your tranny will not like you).

And practice makes perfect.
