OMFG...looks like my girlfriend in the morning.

As for modifying our S, I think there's a few mods that any reasonable person would not find fault with:

1) stereo upgrade. The stock system sucks eggs, pure and simple.

2) rims. As someone mentioned, the Honda rims are nice but a bit bland. Putting on some Volks or a set of BBS LM's definitely gives it a sportier look.

Beyond that, it's a TOTALLY subjective call. If someone wants to dump $20,000 into their S to crank out a 500hp monster that can handle 9,000rpm clutch dumps, more power to them. They could probably get the speed for cheaper with another car, but maybe they wanted the speed inside the body of an S. Or maybe they want it bone stock and will be happy for years and years that way. The point is that I just don't want to own A car, I want to own MY car, a car with my own distinctive touches. I don't think I had an idea of that concept until I bought my S. Is the cost justified? It depends; beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The funniest thing about all of this is that it seems you draw anger and resentment towards others for doing what they want do to their stuff. I mentioned this to one other member who feels this exact way and his respose to me confirmed that.
Being a few years older than you i can give you a little advice. Spend your time more wisely. Worry more about what you do and yoru impact on your environment rather than what others choose to do with theirs.

As long as it doesnt physically hurt you or restrain you from going about your own business, DONT WORRY, BE HAPPY!!
You ll live a lot longer too

Your sig says "1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse-600+ HP (Getting old but still kickin)", yet you're against modding?

Did DSM put out some uber-special edition back in the day that I slept through, or are you just being a little hypocritical?

Seriously, to each his (or her) own... I'm nearing the purchase price in dollar value of the mods I've done, and I don't regret any of it. I've had a blast, and it's no more expensive than some of the other hobbies I've had over the years (skydiving, personal watercraft, etc).

Also, if you think i'm degrading the car's performance, you're mistaken - given identical driving skills, mine will out-run, out-handle and out-brake a stock one. And I've just started on my car - some of the guys around here that have had theirs for a while can put mine to shame (1RandyC, BlackS2000Turbo, Yellow Streak)...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

yea, i got the eclipse when i was about 18 or so and i have dumped $$$ into it...now dont get me wrong i loved doing it (even though sometimes i wanted to set the car on fire cause it pissed me off so much) but looking back at it in retrospect I feel that for all that money i put in it, the car has over 100K on it and doesnt have much life left so now that im trying to sell it i'm having trouble getting even 15K for it even though i put in well over 30K into it. I guess it just seems like such a waste of money. Last comment...being an engineer I have such great respect for the engineers over at Honda as i'm sure you all do, but dont you think that they went to school to learn how to design these cars, as well as having decades of experience with them? Most of you guys are in your 20s and 30s and mod your cars thinking you are making it so great but those Honda engineers know a 1000X more then you do. You riceboys think you know so much sh*t by reading adverstisemens for aftermarket parts and bs'ing with your friends. Again I know to each his own but I think you moddifiers spending $$$ should get your head checked..its a friggin car..save your money to live life and enjoy your S

I didn't mean to offend anyone with my statement at the beginning of this thread...i'm just voicing my opinion so please no one get pissed, aight? im done with this thread.

GEdrew started this thread by saying it was only an opinion, so I don't understand why some overreact to his comments. Perhaps those who have such over-the-top comments are the ones with the most mods and they feel as if they're being personally singled out, I don't know

This sounds very much like Rick Hesel's thread about mods, there's absolutely nothing wrong with feeling this way and writing about it, heck it helps newbies here to realize we're not all mod-crazy on this site.

Some cars out there are almost designed with mods in mind (can anyone say Mustang?). While some cars are great out of the box. I believe the S is the latter of the two.
