[QUOTE=HunterEz,Dec 26 2004, 06:02 PM]A warning to you, I have J's intake and the Top Secret Bumper, they DO NOT fit perfectly. The openning is about 2-3 inches off from where it would fit perfect. When the body shop installed my bumper they jsut shoved the intake in.

To all the guys (& girls) running the Mugen intake, does the intake funnel rub against the radiator support? How else does the Mugen intake mount to keep it in place?
One of the things stopping me from picking up a J's intake (besides cutting the OEM hood) is drilling thru the radiator support.
You don't have to drill through the radiator support thingy to mount the intake...I didn't and it dosn't move

Thanks for the warning!!

That's not really cool, is it...but I don't think Mugen in take is worth $1300, considering J's is $1000...

Do you have a picture taken from the front? How the J's duct appears through the bumper opening?
If you can afford a 1000 dollar intake...would you really be complaining about 300 dollars?

Tiite, I was worried J's/Mugen might scuff the radiator support paint.

Now are all you guys running these intakes cutting your OEM hoods or running aftermarket hoods.

I recently made an album that is a collection of all my J's racing intake pictures that I have take and the useful ones I have found on the boards.

This should help give you a feel for the install

It actually will scuff it a little...heh but it will scuff it no matter if you drill or if you don't cause the intake snorkle is resting right on it.

The only hood that dosn't require altering is the Mugen and the new J's racing hood that have the hump for the snorkle. Any other hood OEM or aftermarket would require cutting.

Thanks for the info! That sucks, especially for people already running Amuse/J's Type-V/Shift Sports hoods and still require the hood to be trimmed. Looks like I'll give "plan B" a try......or go ITB's hahaha!

I compared both about 1-2 years ago. Only real difference was the J's felt like it had a bit more pep down low and on the butt dyno. Since I switched to the SS front with Mugen/Goto Garage pipe I got that pep back. So IMO you cant go wrong with either.

So if I understand correctly...

The Mugen Version 2 intake is not worth getting if you unless you get the Mugen front bumper as well since the OEM bumper blocks the intake air opening.

J's Racing Version 1 intake works with the OEM bumper but you have to drill through the radiator support.

Correct?
