Is MY '04 the last for S2000 ??
I am a salesman at a Honda dealer and I have read this every single time a new model yearis about to start. They are not discontinuing it! They are not discontinuing it! They are not discontinuing it! They are not discontinuing it! They are not discontinuing it!
Ok now that I got my point across, Honda would not have put all of this money into R&D just to produce it for a limited time. Also, just because something isn't made doesn't mean it will go up in value anytime soon, ie 1999-2000 Civic Si, they do depreciate just like every other car. The Prelude was around for almost 30 years and sales had decreased for the last 6-8 years of its life, they still made it. We are selling out of S2000s as soon as they arrive. We have 1 in stock (Blk/Blk). So as far as I know They are not discontinuing it!
Lets put that to rest.
Thank you,
Neal

true it still depreciates, but they depreciate MUCH SLOWER. The EK Si's depreciate, but they can go for $10-12K after 5 years. Original price $17.8. Most other cars in 99 that sold for that price are $8K now.
I had heard the same from a few places. I think like everything it depends on how sales go...a Honda engineer reportedly told someone at a auto show a few years back that the Prelude would eventually return so both cars to some degree fit the same market segment so who knows..but it's here now so go with the flow.
i treasure my car, i don't care about reasale value at this point. i treasure it so much that i think it has value way beyond the marketplace, at least to me...i shrug when i hear it may be discontinued, for a moment that threatens my ability to get furture parts and maybe even a newer one sometime...then i think...not!
for honda to put this much money into a product worldwide, like the nsx, and then stop selling it, when they sell every one they make...and then to put more money into a refresh, which they do with all their other models...this means to me there will be an S2000 for sometime. This is honda's sports car, where they can showplace technology, garner fans of the marque, advertise and promote their nameplate...i think it is like no other current honda product...i think it will be around for a while...
knowing honda, the 2004 will become a 2005 and a 2006 at least...probably with a better sound system or global positioning, or something nifty to add to the uniqueness of that model year.

Those were the words from a Regional Manager, so we have to wait and see...

Pricing is a large issue, at least here in Canada. Preludes were sold for about $30K, the S is about $50K.
