Default My 2001 S is bogging in 1st gear!

Hey all. I just got home from dinner and my 2001 S is doing something not right. When I start off from a complete stop in 1st gear, the car boggs. and jerks pretty hard if I don't like give it immediate more throttle peddle and clutch in. Whats the heck? Then as i'm going thru the rest of the gear its fine. Only from a complete stop to first it boggs. Like its starving for fuel or air or something. If anyone knows what the deal is, please let me know. Thanks S fans!

I don't think there is a problem, you probably need to push the gas a little more when you start in first gear because the motor doesn't make too much torque.

if youre reving your motor a bit higher (~2k) before you ease out the clutch and it still bucks, it's probably your map sensor..

go buy a rubber handle phillips screwdriver.

use the rubber handle to wack the map sensor. dont wack it too hard, but give it a couple good 'thuds'.

if this doesnt seem to work, try this..

unscrew the two bolts that secure the map to the throttle body. disconnect the vacuum hose connected to it.

remove the map gently and be careful not to drop or lose the plastic o-ring.

pucker up and blow into the map to loosen and debris that may have lodged itself in there.

re-install.

now if that doesnt work, bring it to someone who has a diagnostic scanner and see if your map is functioning properly. if not, go on to honda and buy yourself a new one.. theyre not that expensive.

your left foot clutch release ?

Thanks for the info guys. I'm rev'ng to around a grand and the easing the clutch out. As the S is already in a foward motion, like 5 or less mph, the car like stutters (bogs) and If I don't press the clutch in right a way and give it some revs, the car just bogs real bad. It's never done that before. I mean I can rev to a higher rpm before engaging the clutch, but still that bogging should not be there at any rpm. I will try the map sensor dealy. My S only has 15000 miles on her. She's still rather new. I'm worried. Thanks again guys!!

wow buddy...you have about the same car and problem as mines....i have a GPW MY01 that just hit 15000 miles and i have the bogging...sense of shock to the whole car when not applying enough throttle...

....where is the map sensor located? ....a pic would be nice...
also volcomSNOWS2K...if you try this...tell me if it works...

I was thinking the same thing. Could it be heat soak or heat bog?
