My 2001 S is bogging in 1st gear!
unscrew the two bolts that secure the map to the throttle body. disconnect the vacuum hose connected to it.
There's a vacuum hose connected to the MAP sensor?
You must have a very rare car.
Here's the "MAP whack" thread. I don't think I see a vacuum hose connected to it:

I'm rev'ng to around a grand and the easing the clutch out.
STOP THE PRESSES! This car naturally idles at near 1000 rpm. How can you rev it UP to there before you take off?
You are basically trying to move this car from a dead stop with little or no throttle. It's not much different than just easing the clutch out at idle. A typical "gentle" take off involves revving it to between 2000 and 3000 rpm as you let the clutch out. In this case, the problem is NOT with the car.
This car delivers most of its torque and HP in VTEC AND, it is known to perform poorly when there is a lot of hot air in the intake from stop and go traffic. Once you have hot air in the intake, you need to get rid of it before you try to move the car. ie. Get used to blipping the throttle a bit to clear the intake tracts of all that built up hot air before trying to get going.
The engine has a 9000 rpm redline (OK, 8000 on '04s). You are trying to move a 3000 lb. car from a dead stop with only a 1000 or so rpm? You may as well get out and push the damn thing. Let's see how well you get the thing moving. I think you'd bog too.

Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor...
but I came from a DSM with a MAS sensor and haven't really looked to find the my MAP sensor on the S...I'm guessing its either just after the throtle body or on the intake manifold itself

hey i know exactly what ur saying...it isnt so much a car error, but more a user error. Every now and then mine does the same thing, and it's cuz i'm not giving enough gas. Our cars like reving a little more than others, so i try to bring it to 2500-3500 while letting out the clutch...that should minimize bog. Also, ive found that the temperature has a big deal with it. If ive had mine sitting in a parking lot for a while, it will naturally be hotter and bog. Just take note of temp/throttle and u should see that it's correctable.
I think all you guys hit the nail on the nose. As I look back at when my S was bogging, it was when I was in stop and go traffic. The weather was kinda hot. And I did not rev high enough. So my worried mind is more at ease now. I will rev higher and give the MAP sensor a light whack! lol. Thanks again S fans!!! Great information!
