My 2001 S is bogging in 1st gear!

Not to stray too far from the original topic, but what happens when you discharge the load prematurely?
The battery, I mean.

My bogging problem may be different than yours. Mine bogged only during the hotest months of summer in FL and only after idling at a light for a minute or so. I felt it was due to the accumulation of high temp air under the hood which was sucked into the intake in 1st gear. Whatever the cause, I'm happy to report that the AEM v1 CAI completely cured it. I haven't bogged since the install, even though the stop & go traffic is worse than ever this summer.

. I'm rev'ng to around a grand and the easing the clutch out.
well I'm about 4 grand above you all the time..
xviper says it best..
Well I have experienced the same problem in Florida and only when the car gets warm. Additionally, at hi-rev shifts the clutch slips bad (but not when the car is cold) My car only has 15k on it (MY 2002). I don't drive the car hard, infact I got 14k from the factory 02's
The problem with mine is the POS clutch that comes with the car. I think the pressure plate is bad, since the clutch slips when the car warms up, (chirps 2nd and 3rd according to the dealer when it's cold)I am thinking one or more springs in the pressure plate are loosing strength when they heat up.
I'm probably going to pull the car out of the dealer, since it doesn't seem that Honda is going to cover the clutch (still working on that one) and go with the act pressure plate and comptech flywheel.
any thoughts from the more experienced techies???

).The OEM clutch doesn't come as a POS. It becomes that way due to what happens to it after some owners get a hold of it.
If you've had the car since new, then I will propose the following possibilities:
-you did, indeed, get a bum clutch (highly unlikely).
-your shifting technique (clutch/throttle/shifter coordination) is such that it induces slippage. When the clutch is cold, it can take such a slight transgression but when it heats up, the friction material just can't keep up. You may be applying throttle just a bit too prematurely at the time of clutch release and this is further aggravated during high rpm work. (IE. Your rev matching needs a bit of work.)
-when you move off from a dead stop, you are revving your engine too high and slipping your clutch too much and too long, thus further aggravating the situation when it heats up. This also makes it heat up so much sooner.
If you purchased this car used (based on a clue from this statement: "chirps 2nd and 3rd according to the dealer when it's cold", add the following possibility:
-the car was abused before you had it and the clutch was already glazed. This will show up as a normal functioning clutch till it gets heated up. In short time, the clutch will do the same when cold and a new clutch will be on the menu.
Regardless of the aforementioned, add the following:
-with the age of your vehicle being what it is, the clutch fluid may be in need of flushing and changing. Although the clutch fluid doesn't get nearly as hot as the brake fluid, it can still get hot enough that it can cause irregularities in clutch operation. This too, can manifest itself in the symptoms you describe.
-the clutch pedal may be in need of a slight adjustment to bring the "friction point" back to where it ought to be.

i thought it was funny, since when you put up that thread, everyone is whacking it...
