16 with an s2000 is fine, just know your limits beforehand and never take risks. A dumb teenager is no different than a dumb 30 year old, just be responsible. Experience: turned 18 last week with a 500hp s2000.

This car is safe enough if you're a safe driver.

This is stupid advice.

"just know your limits beforehand"? Excuse me? He's 16, he doesn't know his limits! He has no experience!

"a dumb teenager is know different than a dumb 30 year old"? Acutally, there is a huge difference. It's called "experience".

But, alas....you yourself are 18, that's why you make these statements.

Anyway...my feeling is that if you are the stereotypical 16 year old male, this is not a good 1st car to buy. To easy to wreck it with an emergency maneuver.

It's safer if you are going to be a non-stereotypical 16 year old male driver, but still, in an emergency maneuver, you are much more likely to wreck this car than most others.
lol if you can read the last post i put up i explain my experience, with other rear wheel cars, not hard to drive aslong as your responsible and i think i'm a very responsible driver i'm getting the S no matter what, i'm just sharing what i'm going through with my brother. sorry if i sounded like a duche but i don't like when people think wrong bout me.

The point here is, WHOS MONEY??
If my brother had money and asked me if he should buy crack...should I tell him "HEY BRO, its your money".

Completely out of subject, drugs r illegal... If the money its someone elses he doesnt get to decide what to do with it, but if is his money and nobody elses but his, he can buy wattever he want cuz is HIS money and noone cant stop him from buying the S.

Now, for eevan, Im 25, and when I got IN LOVE with the S2000 I was about ur age, I didnt get to buy it untill 2 yrs ago, theres no need to rush something like a car, if the money is ur parents, then u have some work to do convencing them, if not u can inform them (not asking permission) that unlees they buy u the car they want u in with their money, u gonna use ur money for the car that u want cuz ur the one whos gonna drive the car that u buy with ur own money, they eather are gonna get u a car or let u buy ur S, eather way u win and if they buy u a car u still have ur 14k for ur S later on...

Sorry man. Didn't read the whole thread before I posted.

So...go ahead and get it, but be careful. One of the most valuble and fun things you can do is take a driving course. Take an autocross school first, and then take an HPDE driving course. It'll be a blast of fun, and you'll learn how to handle a car at it's limits, and in an emergency.

...of course you think you're a responsible drive.

I did too when I was 16 and I'm sure everyone else did as well. I've yet to see a person that thought they were an irresponsible driver, but I've seen a lot of irresponsible drivers.

Your mind is set and you're going to do what you want, just keep in mind that nobody is saying these things to scare you or to be an ass. People are saying these things because we've all been there. You can't learn experience.

Not everyone will fall in love with this car... Perception not experience rule in situations like this.

Some of the things I get:
Too small
Miata
Girls car
Cute
It's a Honda...
dangerous
Old

Anyone who knows nothing about the car will say something... Those that have driven the car but still hate it likely have an issue power or lack of it in low Rpm

If you are the one buying screw what everyone else thinks...

wow.. it started off okay.. then it just got harder and harder for me to read. look if its your money buy what you want but if its not then you have no choice but to drive what your parents give you. unless your spoiled and get everything served to you on a silver platter. but the s2000 is not a car for a beginner driver. bald tires + wet road = crash. trust me..
