Just chill out put the top down and enjoy.

When I bought mine I had just finished up my daily driver a 140hp 9 second 600rr streetbike - it was my 21st car and I've done more track days and actual road races than I care to remember but for the first whole month I didnt even try to test it. My friend on the other hand spun his on the fwy merging withint the first month, spun it again following me up grr and then finally spun it again just passing and it going to cost him 4K+ to fix this time.

There is nothing dangerous about the car that doesnt mean you can drive like a jack ass and not pay for it.
very good post, i'm definately not going to rice out the S since i respect the car and also not act as a ricer so i don't ruin our rep , anyways i cannot understand how your friend spun out 3 times, 1 is okay 2 meh, but 3 lol maybe his not a responsible driver, maybe his just unlucky anyways as i've stated many and many times i'm not planning to street race or anything just as a cruiser and have it as my track car. thanks again everyone keep up the posts <3

I havent looked through the thread to figure out if the same people are doing this, but I wouldn't exactly be bitching that people are ragging on that girl for flipping her S "bc shes a girl" if your "expecting to see his thread on totaling his S" bc hes young. Just a little hypocritical imo.

Just because your a young driver doesnt mean your bad at driving. Driving ISNT hard, I mean cmon.. seriously, if you find it that you have to focus so hard that you cant listen to music or have a conversation, or enjoy the sites etc. while your driving then you should probably get out from behind the wheel.

Fact of the matter is, a lot of these people saying that hes gonna be a bad driver because hes young could potentially be the same people that merge onto the freeway at 30mph, go 10 under in the left lane, are brake happy (tap the brakes everytime they want to slow down AT ALL), tailgate, late brakers, arnt courteous on the road etc. etc. All these things are terribly dangerous, yet because your going slow, you think you are safe, and therefore dont pay attention as well as you should be. (Most accidents happen under 40mph fyi)

Dont be stupid, pay attention, be nice and you'll be fine. The S has a very linear power curve which I found to be VERY forgiving for first timers, at least with the soft compound tires I have, even on my 75 shot, if I have good tread on my tires I dont break loose in 1st gear. Keep good tread on your tires, get a good alignment and dont pop the clutch mid-turn and you probably wont go flying into a ditch

I know everybody tends to rip on younger drivers, but in life we all make our own decisions about how we handle adversity. I speak of adversity because the s2000 is not your typical Prius or Civic in terms of the driver responsive abilities needed to control the vehicle. However, I feel that is wrong to judge inexperience with immaturity. Obviously, one can make the case that with immaturity comes inexperience and vice versa. Younger drivers often tend to have inflated egos and a sense of entitlement and with that entitlement comes irresponsible actions in a car like the s2000. However, without knowing someones personal background I.e how they have come to acquire the vehicle, maturity level etc. It is impossible to make the conclusion that all young drivers are bad drivers. I'm 19 years old, I bought my car with the money that I earned working full-time as a landscaper during the summer. I might be young, and hell most would say inexperienced considering the s2000 is my first rear-wheel drive manual transmission car I have ever owned, but the fact of the matter is, you can call me inexperienced, maybe even privileged I have the opportunity that to be able to own my own s2000 and it's rightfully mine, but every time I get in the driver seat and push that little red button, my maturity outweighs my driving experience and I cherish every drive responsibly and in control. Stop giving young drivers bad reps, while there are instances when immature drivers have made the wrong decisions, you can't take a small sample size and assume it's the population. With that, I love my s2000 and call me what you want but never judge a book by it's cover.

This thread makes me think of what my parents went through. Always told me one thing, I always though I knew otherwise, and usually was wrong.

You've obviously never driven a Miata- especially a MSM. Educate yourself before making such useless comments.
