Is my clutch going South?
I think I drive my car much more conservatively than a lot of folks on this board; however, today when I took off a little agressively in first gear I noticed clutch slippage. When I got home a few minutes later and pulled into the garage I could smell the clutch burning smell. Is this trouble or what?
I wouldn't worry about it, it's a great time be in the South right now. Warmer climates, sunny...you know. How far south? Like Florida-south? Or Like Equador-south. You need to be more specific...
Seriously, RandyP is perfectly correct here. Letting the clutch out slowly (or too slowly on a high RPM launch) is likely to slip it. I know you weren't doing a high rev drop, but even when you don't let the clutch out fast enough under enough load, you can still slip the clutch. When you drive aggresseively, let the clutch out as fast as possible.
Sorry you got that smell. I have had it once, but I wasn't driving.
