Sounds to me like you blew the fuse for the Right window (interior fuse box); a 20A fuse on teh right side 5 fuses up from the bottom. Also, the fuses for the convertable top are located in the Underhood fuse box. There are 2 (one for the right and one for the left). Those are located in the set of 6 fuses in the middle/top. The Right fuse is the top left one and the Left fuse is the middle bottom one. Hope that helps. Also, if it's not the fuse for the convt top, check the switch for the e-brake.

Maybe the window lock is on. I don't know if that would make a difference or not.

It would only make a difference if rolling down from the pass side.

Figured it out though..... Your fuse is blown on your right side. The top wont retract until the windows are down as a safety measure not to damage them. Once you get the window fixed, I'm sure the top will drop.

I agree with Skip Ferrari. Check your window lock if it's only the passenger window and the top still works.

The window will not go down with the lock on with either window switch (driver or passenger).

Shouldn't effect the top auto window roll down though, but you never know.

Default Left window and roof have no sign of life

I have the same problem . Left window doesn’t go down or up ( but is fully up atm) and now roof doesn’t operate at all.
checked all fuses ( every fuse is working ). Even swapped the 20 amp yellow left and right window fuses and only drivers side one works .
the switch on master side is in the correct position .
I even went to the connectors under the dash and checked the connections and all seem to have the correct voltages .
Park brake is on and I even shorted the wire to metal to make sure there was contact .
Roof switch is working correctly .
all under bonnet fuseable links are correct .
Everything else on the car works .

any suggestions ?

A shame the original poster was so lazy and didn't bother to post the solution 17 years ago.

The roof movement is a two-part operation. First thing that happens when the roof switch is activated is the system sends the windows down. A half second later it activates the roof motors down so there is probably a fail safe to not start part 2 until part one has at least started. But I've no clue how the system knows the windows are on the way down. Doesn't wait until they're all the way down so the bottom/down-sensor probably isn't doing anything.

Since your window doesn't activate at all I'd check the switches as they're simple to bypass. And if you only visually checked the fuses put them on a meter and be sure there are no invisible breaks.

Please post the solution!

OP, ignore the top for second. Test drivers side window, start with the windows up fully, car on, when you press the window switch on the door down fully, and hold it briefly but then release it, does the window continue to go all the way down after you release? Or does it stop going down?

Edit - Ahhh - just realized this is a 17 year old thread. But, if others having issues of this sort, (I have had them myself), there are two or three threads with help sprinkled around. Depending on the exact symptoms there are various solutions ranging from fuse issues - to window regulator reset - to replace window regulator - to replace convertible top controller unit and others.
