My experience behind the wheel of an S2K
Well, for a few reasons I'm thinking about ditching the RSX, namely I want some more power over my base..
I went out and took another s2k for sale local in my area for a test drive, and I was extremely disappointed.
Maybe it's just my infatuation, and love hate relationship with my RSX.. but I found the interior, specifically the gauge cluster area to be an intense focus of my dislike, it looks to me like I need a degree in astrophysics to master all of the buttons in the immediate area surrounding the steering wheel.
Honda s2000

Acura RSX

I do not really understand the overly cumbersome setup, specifically for the temperature controls, nor do I really understand the need for another audio gauge cluster when the reciever is only a stones throw away.
I was also disappointed with the pitch of the engine sound, I prefer a lower tone, maybe thats simply because I have a CAI in my car, I'm hoping that it can be cured with putting in a CAI in an s2000.
Also, what is with that bar running through the legroom area?
I'm hoping some aftermarket DIYs can get rid of the volume controls on the left hand side, and the CAI will drop the engine pitch.. I'd really like a change of pace from my seemingly cursed RSX.. any comments would be appreciated.

I really feel sorry for you it the dash controls and gauges on the s2000 are too complicated for you. To me they are the most simplistic i've ever used. The S isn't the for everyone. Maybe you'd be better off with something else.
i think its just that you are so used to driving your (exellent i must say) RSX
i consider the interior of the s2k very well layed out
and i love the sound of an s2k with an CAI and an exhaust
dont change your mind about the s2000, give it another try(meet up with some of the s2k owners in your area) etc...
so might love it in the end!

Must just be what you're used to becuase I love the controls. Never have to reach away from the steering wheel...most times never let go of it. Audio left, Climate right. but ya just seeing for the first time can be confusing..but I've driven a rsx once and was very confused by the buttons and nobs too...so it just goes both ways. And I really like the close audio controls because i don't have to REACH teh sterio knobs and accidently hit the wrong button with my arm extended. and you can keep the radio hidden with the closer controls too.
the bar under you feet is a part of the frame making the car more rigid.
if you want deep/low engine sound take off the top of the airbox. sounds AWESOME!!! i suppose it'd be similar to the sound of a CAI

controls annoyed me for the first two weeks of ownership. i love them now because everything is in fingertip distance and i never take my eyes off the road except to swap cds.
And the car had a veilside hood and a lip kit.
The S's HVAC and radio controls are the EASIEST I have ever used.
Not to mention that you don't have to take your hands off the steering wheel to use them.
Plus I don' know if you drove an AP1 or AP2, but the 2.2 engine in the AP2 sounds pretty deep for a stock I-4.
Yeah my old 1.6 civic si sounded deeper with a CAI too, but it sure wasn't faster.

I absolutely love the controls on the dash. My hands never have to leave the wheel to change anything. It's quite simple and easy to read. The digital guages are also not that difficult to understand. As far as the floor, I'll give you that. It's annoying at first, but if it makes the car stronger, Im all for it.

Thats all.
Meh, I'm gonna be sitting on this for a little while anyhow.
