depends on the car you are in.

<discalimer> racing should be taken to a track, knee down on public streets is a bad idea. Tickets, jail, or death may apply. Use with caution </disclaimer>

I first drove faster than 100mph in 1975, in a 1969 Fiat 124 Spider. There's a long, straight downhill stretch of I-81 in southwest Virginia, and I just let it go. With a whopping 95bhp, it did well to go that fast, I think.
I save it for the track, now; there are so few places where it's safe to do it on the public roads, and not a risk for a major ticket.

What would be the easiest way to mod the S to have a higher top speed? Where would one get the parts?

Sorry, I dont think there is a car out there that can compare to having your knee down at over 100mph on a proper race bike. Lots of fun cars, but none that I know can touch a bike. Here is a pic for ya. Not at over a 100 here, but you get an idea <click>

At the track I will agree with you about bikes. I've been to many track days at Texas World Speedway and Cresent Ranch. I topped my GSXR-750 out on the back strait at Texas World at 186mph and then slowed down to 120 going into turn 1 with my knee down. Yes it is euphoric.
Hit 100 on day one in the S (used car). Told my son (17 yrs) and he took me for a drive past 110. The hay wagon was coming up pretty fast, and he was moving in the same direction.
Sooo, what is the S's "cut-out speed? Obviously somewheres past 160???

going over 100 mph for the first time really stirred the blood for me. before the s2k i drove a civic, and as much as i love cars, it's hard to be passionate with an automatic 4-dr civic lx.
anyway, i went to somewhere in the country to see a friend. he had an '02 v6 mustang, and wanted a ride in my s2k. we drove around, and there was just nothing on the roads; not a single car in sight. i slowed down to a stop, put it in first, and took off. as we approached 100, my friend goes "uhh i think there's a rail crossing coming up," and i quickly got on the brakes hard. after we slowed down to a leisure pace, he said that he saw 108 mph, and man was it satisfying. can't wait to go faster!!
