Default My new BLK/BLK 2002 S2000

Well, it is finally here. I ordered it six weeks ago and it came in today. I spent 8 hours at the dealership today. They called me as soon as it came in on the truck. They did not even touch the car until I got to the dealership. I watched the mechanic install the front and rear spoilers and the six disc changer. It was great. I would not let them wash the car so I drove it home with the plastic still on the car. I will spend tomorrow cleaning it I'm sure. The car had 8 miles on it when I left the dealership and it is now at 43. I cannot wait for tomorrow to come!

Thanks to everyone on this site for providing such helpful information. I am sure I will be asking lots of questions in the days to come.

I have to keep it under 6K for 600 miles - right? Anything else?

yes, keep it under about 5500 rpm for the first 600 miles, then hammer down on it after that.

Does it really damage the new engine if I rev it past 6K a couple times by accident? I heard different opinions on this. I heard in another thread that we should vary the rpm by going up high and down?

Sev's recommended break-in is stricter than that of Honda...his car dyno'd 210 stock.

I followed Sev's break-in as best as possible...dyno'd 206.5 stock.

Could be related, could be dyno variance, could be luck.

Search for Sev's guidelines for details, but I will try to paraphrase...

Keep the engine below X rpms for Y miles say 3500 rpms and 400 miles... no wide open throttle.

Increase rpms by 500 and mileage by 50.

Continue until over 600 miles and then enjoy the car.

again, do a search to get Sev's details.
