Great mod. Thought of it before but thought the filter would be two small compared to stock..
Reason its better flow is if you notice the stock intake has baffles which restrict a bit the flow of air to make the car sound quieter. They sell a wrap which is 3 inches which you can cover the pipe with to insulate it. It cost like 30 dollars.

Not a pointless mod. it works damn well, has straighter air flow, the filter flows better, after I heat wrap it I should have good gains. I can already tell a huge difference in throttle response and power.
Tell those guys at K&N, they put one on a dyno and get a small 9.5 hp not the huge one you report
