All kinds of things can make fuel economy bad - wrong tire pressures, leaking injectors or other type of fuel leak, dirty air filter, too high a viscosity of oil, bad gas, running in too low a gear at too high a speed, shifting at too high an rpm on a routine basis, a mod gone bad, dragging brakes, bad alignment.
I've been using this for years.
Your car is running exactly as it should (speed vs rpm). Don't worry, you've got 5000 more rpm to go.

Is there a washable air conditon filter availible for it? Replacing the stock paper one will get old fast....
Yes, you can get a re-usable filter for the engine. K&N sells one as does JR, not to mention others. Get one that easy for you to obtain.
What do you put on the top to protect it?
You can treat the soft top material with Aerospace 303 protectant or "low gloss" ArmourAll or the Porsche equivalent top product whichever is easiest for you to get.

I was refurring to the filter for the air condition system.
We were talking about fuel economy and what could affect it. We were discussing dirty air filters - the one in the engine's intake.
You are changing the subject and hijacking your own thread so many times, it's really hard to keep up with what you're really talking about.
Our tops are vinyl.
At this time, there is no "cleanable" filter for the HVAC.

Technically, this is called the "cabin air filter" or HVAC filter or air conditioner filter.
