Default My S2 caught fire today

Here's what happened. I'm driving along then all of a sudden I see smoke pouring out the back of the car. I look back to see if its for real, and when I turn my head back there's smoke in front of me.

So the customary "OH SHIT" was said, and I stopped at a stoplight in the middle of the street, popped the hood and behold. MY ENGINE WAS ON FIRE.

Now, my engine just wasnt on fire like some little ass fire. All across the header it was flaming. So we try to put it out with a wet towell and a shirt, all that did was keep it from spreading. but the fact of the matter was my car was still on fire.

Eventually my friend comes back with a fire extinguisher. So the engine was basically burning for about 3-5 minutes. Another guy in a frontier out of no where hands me another fire extinguisher from his window then keeps on truckin (Big up to him. Thanks bro) Basically me and my friend suffocated the shit out of the fire. Finally the fire goes out.

We push it out the middle of the road leaving a trail of oil and coolant on the road. Yeah, that's right, during the fire my coolant hose exploded.

We call Honda Care up and request for a tow.

Upon further inspection of the car we find that its covered with oil, along with my friends celica that was behind me. There's oil dripping from everywhere under the car. It was pretty crazy.

After 2 hours a tow truck comes. Great, it's one of those tow trucks that tows from the tires... Unacceptable. I tell him to call for a flatbed. So, another 2 hours later a flat bed comes. Then it's towed down to the dealership. Unfortunately, the dealership was closed and wont be open till monday (it's saturday.)

Well whatever, i'm still messed up from that so I cant tell the story too good right now.

I'll finish it later.

Off the cuff guess, considering the fire...some gasket/line failed, you lost all of your oil, and without lube, something got hot enough from friction to start the fire. Your pistons may be partially welded to your block or your header is screwed.

Bummer.

It sounds like you had an oil leak spraying onto your headers.

$5 says your oil filter came loose, and enough oil sprayed onto the header to ignite. You didn't have your car serviced at Cush Honda, did you?

Did you pour some oil in your car and forgot to put the oil cap back on? I did that once when I first started driving, luckily I stopped about a mile after driving at a gas station to fill up and see smoke coming out under the hood The car still runs smooth up to this day!
