I'm curious about the SCC Chains as well. Where do you get them?
I am really curious too, any links or pictures? Sounds cool. I would like to get studded tires some day.
lol yes my S is riced now!!
re: scc chains.. google it up 'tards!!! j/k
here are a few pics on the web:

i got the "shur grip z" model.
imho if you do any highway driving don't get these.. chances are highways are plowed quick anyway. i got these b/c my commute is 100% on local roads and snow removal absolutely STINKS in ann arbor.
these ride much better than oldschool link-type chains, but they still do make loud noises above 35mph. but so do WS50 snow tires anyway.. and it sure is fun to pass SUVs!!!!
PM me if you have any questions

Great story, ProV1, thanks for sharing!
Now try it without the chains!!
We actually got some snow down here in Texas last Christmas. I wound up driving about 10 miles home after midnight services on X-mas Eve night. It was a VERY interesting experience to say the least. It's a good thing we're essentially flat around here. The only "hills" we have to worry about are overpasses. At one point, I touched the brakes out of curiosity. All that happened was that the ABS system kicked on and not much else. If I was slowing down, I couldn't tell it and I was only doing about 15 mph to begin with. I got home without too much trouble but I NEVER want to do that again!

I was impressed with how well I got around with snow tires, but I also learned not to be so vocal about how well I get around in the snow because it has made it difficult to take a "snow day" at work and stay home.
Anyone try these?

I haven't needed them in CA, but my friend had them on her ski car. She said that it took only a couple of minutes to attach them. You might recognize people who have them - they have the blck metal hub rings over their lug nut area of their drive wheels.
BTW - they are really expensive $355
