Default My Soft Top Latch Broke

I was closing the top after parking the S and I saw a little piece of black plastic fall to the floor. It snapped off from inside the latch itself and now the latch has no "spring" when I close it. I no longer have to depress the button to release the latch from the windshield it just falls open. The left one still works, but the right one is done for. Even when I open the top, I usually close the latches on themselves to prevent rattling during top down cruising, this latch will not close anymore. It's definitely broken, but I didn't know If I can get a new latch thingy or if I have to get a whole new softop and cry a lot. THanks guys. Im at 46k so warranty is prob. out of the question.

List price is going to be somewhere around $134.52. You can probably find it online for less.

Could you possibly retrieve the piece that fell out, use the good one as a frame of reference and put the piece back in? It may be a snap fit or a little adhesive may be necessary.

Awesome! Thanks guys. XViper, I got the piec but it was a clean break. I think I could use some adhesive to put it back together, but I doubt it'll be strong enough because I put my top ip and down fairly often and I think this piece gets put under a lot of stress. Thanks everyone.

Too bad. I fixed another one that blew apart and was lucky enough that it shoved back in and held.

I had the same thing happen to my MY02 about 2 weeks after purchase. I dealt with it for a while, but the other day was driving in the rain and every time I hit a bump, the latch would pop open and scare me half to death. I ordered a new latch assembly from the dealer for 108.00 and had it replaced in less than a week.

Mine broke 2 weeks ago. Only Honda would make most of the component of metal but the crucial piece that makes the damn thing work, is made out of plastic. And you can't just buy the plastic part you have to buy the whole damn thing, WTF?

FYI a dealer in Nor Cal sells it for around $80.00 USD.

Fvck Honda, mines a beater now anyway . I just use a rubber band to keep mine in place. Works well, easy on off. Ghetto yes, but I would rather give a single mom / stripper a bill than Honda. At least when I get screwed for my hundred I will have a nice memory of melons not some stupid plastic part.
