Nauseating gas smell
OhioRacer, thanks for letting me know about that. Like I said, I'm always careful about the gas cap, so I was very embarrassed yesterday when they found it was loose. But when I got home from the dealer, I found it was loose again! Maybe it's just the cap. By the way, I got gas at 76 instead of Mobil, screwed the cap down really tight and I don't smell anything today. (crossing my fingers)
My wife's Volvo has a self-loosening cap.
I hope that's it, Payne.
Very annoying, the bloody gas cap. There has to be a better design than the current one. At least the one on my S holds firm.

Since this is an emissions problem, you should be able to get it replaced at the dealer's.
If the cap is working properly, you should be able to "easily" spin it tight. I'm talking just spin the cap and it keeps on turning by itself. There should be NO drag on the threads when tightening it. Mine wouldn't tighten, period. The cap would start clicking before it was tight.
Good luck,
Bob

I had a problem with mine when my car was new. I tried the gas cap from my wife's Odyssey and it worked fine, but mine wouldn't tighten down all the way. I examined the threads on my cap and I could see where the cap was molded and there was a ridge that I had to file down. Once I did that, it was OK. The seam was higher than the surrounding material and was causing the cap to bind when trying to tighten it.
