Default Need advice, 01 cracked rear window...

01 36, 800 miles.

i guess all the cold, ice and snow somehow cracked my rear plastic window. damn near shattered it. so, any ideas what i should do?

do i take it to honda? or a window repair type place?

how bad is honda going to rip me for the new window + labor. any chance you think i can get good will type credit since my warranty just ended? or do i just bite the bullet and let them do what ever.

how long do you think it will take to replace the rear window anyway? this a 1 day job or week+?

can i do it myself or does it need to be stitched it?

any ideas would be appreciated.

thanks in advance!

You can do it yourself, it will take some time but save you a few hundred dollars. You can purchase a new plastic window from hardtopguy for around $155 plus shipping.

Some rivets will have to drilled and replaced in order to replace the window. Look in the library for the "soft-top replacement" for step by step instructions on how to remove the top.

Most honda dealerships send their cars to local upholestry shops to do the work for them, since they are not experienced in this kind of stuff. So if you don't feel confident doing it yourself, buy the window and take it to an upholestry shop youself. They should charge anywhere from $300-$500 for the install.

You should consider installing a glass window so that you won't have this problem again....

i like the larger size plastic window actully. call me weird but its true. mind you a defroster would be a nice touch.... but not worth the extra $1000 it would cost me to convert.

for $100 its going to get fixed threw insurance.

called Honda of america. they basicly said out warenty by millage and year so tough luck. but if i want to take it in and have them inspect it to see if it was faulty materials or natural reasons it broke they would look at it. mind you id have to pay for that and if it was abuse/weather i would be stuck with the total bill of 1200. so, ill pay the $100 and have it back next week over waiting a month to get this strightend out.

thanks for all the sudgestion!
