need exhaust manifold cover!
long story...the underneath of my exhaust manifold cover is covered in oil. there's a mesh like material that soaked it up and can't be cleaned. the engine smokes when hot because of this - posing a fire hazard.
replacement from honda is 2 weeks out. dealer says i shouldn't drive car and won't remove mesh material.
according to http://www.honda.ca/models/s2000_benefits.asp
"Alumina insulators attached to the back of the cover help minimize vibration and noise transmission"
sounds like i can take it out until new parts come. any thoughts?
anybody have an extra exhaust manifold cover that they want to sell????

I suppose you could take out the mesh, but the material is riveted in place and would be difficult to remove. Another possibility is to remove the shield, but if something should go wrong, your dealer might blame you for running it that way.
