Need help deciding
I bought a 2001 S2000 in 2011, with 17,000 miles on it. It had been well looked after & was mint, but had sat for some months a few of times. I paid A$30.000,
I Serviced it, changed all fluids & the battery, & drove it a couple of thousand miles. I did not like the tyres so changed them, & did some miles fairly quickly. They had to get a crow bar to lever me out of it my son recons.
I have been running Triumph TRs for many years, so have some idea what needs replacing by age, rather than wear. Early this year I changed all coolant & brake hoses, & all fluids again. Next year I plan on replacing all rubber in the hydraulic systems, the air conditioning hoses, & the tyres again. AP1s don't like tyres much older than 5 years as they loose too much grip..
The car now has 29,000 on it, & has performed perfectly. The moderately long periods of sitting idle do not appear to have hurt it at all, perhaps because the PO was doing oil changes when recommended by time, rather than miles.
I would be perfectly happy buying another very low mileage S2000, in fact happier than buying a high mileage car. I have considerable experience of both with my old Triumphs, & I have found low mileage better than high for future usage & maintenance requirements.
