I didn't appreciate that Jakarta was that wild and wooly that you had to keep your top up all the time. I was in Jakarta in '75 and '87 and it didn't strike me as being that bad but I suspect I have retained only the good memories of the city and forgotten all the bad ones.
Yes, Bali is a dream come true for convertibles when it comes to weather but I have to say that the traffic is abysmal with bumper to bumper 60km/h driving most of the time (30km/h in the towns). Once you get off the beaten track a little you can pick up speed but the roads become so bad you feel unsafe at anything over 100km/h (not to mention all the animals on the roads).
I'll ask my son again what colour the S2K he saw was - it slike it was most likely the vehicle you refer to.
