Default Need to remove front license plate.

Hey guys, I want to remove the front license plate. I can get the actual tags out without any problems since its screwed onto to the plastic black cover. The problem is that I can't seem to remove the plastic plate cover. I don't know what kind of bolt is on there but it seems like a washer is holding it back from coming unscrewed from behind the bumper. I have attached pictures so you can see. I don't know what is holding it back since I can't see behind the bumper(the view is obstructed from below and top ). I was wondering if anyone had issues with this or if anyone can shed some light on this.

Hmmm, wish I could offer some help, but mine was so easy I almost don't remember taking it off.

I run without the front plate in Illinois. We're suppose to have plates on front and back. It's been 3 years now and I've never been stopped. Anybody else doing that?

well in Maryland it's also required to have both tags but I think its hideous to have plates in the front since it messes up the aesthetics of the car (maybe even aerodynamics??). Regardless I've been trying to take the stupid plate cover off and it doesn't seem to budge. :?(

Just unscrew that bolt that you see in the pic. If it spins and nothing really happens then you'll have to remove the bumper to hold the piece in back because it may have come loose from the bumper.

I tried removing my front license plate from my previous S before trading it in, but I gave up after just getting the tags off, but not the entire frame. As for the CR, I'm considering just leaving it on. I've been pulled over before in the Z for not having a plate, but the cop didn't issue a ticket. I guess I don't want to risk it.

Hit it with pb blaster, wait 30 minutes and try again with a 6 point socket. You could try tapping lightly on the end of the bolt to help free it up.

+1 I've been pulled over once. I said my bracket was broken so I didn't get a ticket.

I would take the bumper off and get it from the rear (lol)

if the bolt in the pic cannot be removed, then the bracket that the bolt threads into is spinning. the bracket is supposed to be secured/molded to the inside of the bumper but can sometimes come off if license plate bolt made too tight, bracket can break off and spin. you will have to remove the bumper to get to this. by the way, does the bolt even spin or is it frozen? either way. take the bumper off and you should be able to get the license plate off.
