props on all the input!!!!! Based on your suggestions and some more thought I have made my decision. For one thing the NSX IMO is better looking than the S2k, but the maint costs and the fact that it would be 10 years old is a big factor. However, I like the style of the older NSX with the flip-up headlights, so my choice is narrowed to the older body style. Now as far as the S2k, I have been in love ever since I first drove the MY00 that I previously owned. I feel so connected to the car when I drive it. So, my decision is........
S2K.
I'm thinking TODA stroker kit with ITB's????

Have you purchased your car yet? If not then here's a few thoughts. First, I wouldn't be afraid of buying a 10 year old NSX because, well, it's an NSX and not a Ford/GM. The build quality of this car is at the finest level. I own a 1991 and it looks, drives, and feels new. In contrast, my buddy's '98 Corvette C5 vert squeaks, vibrates and drives like an old car.
Maintenance is more, yes. But we are talking about every 90k for a timing belt and water pump @ $1500. Everything else is cake.
It is a hard choice no doubt between the S2k and the NSX. I owned the s2k before the nsx but couldn't sell the S once I got the nsx.
Whatever you decided to do was right. Meaning you couldn't make a bad choice with either car.
Have fun

i just saw a couple nsx's today and felt a ping. damn, if only the S looked like the nsx... there's just something about the size and the presence of that car that the S will never obtain.

To consider:
Clutch kit (OEM):
NSX $1180
S2k $310
Brake Rotors (OEM):
NSX FR $125
S2k FR $68
NSX RR $150
S2k RR $85
Water Pump:
NSX $205
S2k $100
And someone asked what's the point if the car is rear-ended...since the NSX is made of treated hardened aluminum they are very very difficult to repair. Not likely to find a dent wizard who will work an NSX...and welding a new rear quarter on is not easy.
