I bet if I was in a Cadillac or something he wouldn't have done it...
Funny you said that, the only time I've had somebody yell at me was when I was younger driving my dad's Cadillac STS, I turned onto my own street and as I did I guess a combination of me driving slowly enough, as well as putting my foot on the pedal to accelerate caused it to downshift into first gear. There was a dad on the street who had kids my age and he came walking quickly down his driveway (I thought to say hello) so I came almost to a stop at the bottom of it and he starting berating me, yelling "Slow down on this street you f***ing a**hole!!!" So I accelerated away.

It really bothered me because again, he got the totally wrong idea, simply from the revs of the engine, though I was actually doing LESS than the speed limit. I don't drive fast ever in any residential neighborhoods because I'd never forgive myself if I killed a kid because I was feeling like a speedstar that day.

People are ignorant everywhere you go, just learn to live with it I guess. Pushing their buttons back by making extra noise or driving fast because they have no authority is a pretty immature response though, in my opinion.

Yeah... I know what you're saying but I just found it funny. I know I shouldn't have done it, but it's not a busy road and the poor old guy flaring his arms at me as if saying he gives us trying was just too funny. I never did it again... just that one time.

And the fat guy... he just really pi$$ed me off. He had no right jumping out in front of the car like that. I wasn't speeding, so there's no need for it. And even if I was speeding... would someone really be stupid enough to jump in front of the car like that?

That's why I had them listen to the engine with the car parked in my garage. I didn't want them to think I wasn't slowing down in the future and have an additional miscommunication. Because I'm not going to creep along in 6th gear at 1200 rpms down the street (it will be the standard 4-6k rpms)... at least not until he puts a shirt on and I don't have to look at his man-boobs anymore. Hey we all gotta give a little, eh?

FWIW, I would GLADLY drive at 1200rpms to not look at his breasticles.

Props to those in the know.

this just happened to me a couple days ago, so one day i woke up and washed my car then to dry off all the water in the cracks i decided to take it down the block and whip it a couple times, so i did that and parked my car back in the garage after i dried it, then 5 mins later i hear someone banging on my door telling me to "OPEN THE F****N DOOR" so i run downstairs with a bat and right when i open the door i see a gold badge (COP), then i hide the bat behind me and the officer said that he just moved in and if i do that one more time he'll tow my car, of course i start to say sorry and he leaves, then 5 minutes later i hear tires schreeching sounds down the block and i look, and theres the F****N cop doing some donuts then i run outside and he drives by and says "JUST KIDDING"...LOL

I dont drive crazy around the neighborhood.....its not worth it. I wouldnt want anyone doing it in front of my house either.

I know you say you look around for the kids, but accidents are accidents because they arent necessarily preventable.

I have an older honda civic that runs off the downpipe. I try to drive as quiet as possible because no one else wants to hear it while they are trying to sleep or relax. I wouldnt want to hear someone screeching their tires, trying to drift around the turns.....that is just foolish.

on normal city streets i have gotten yells from mothers when i wiz by at 20-25 in 2nd, the car is loud and people have no idea how fast you are going, just how fast you seem based on what they hear...it is anoying to hear those shouts knowing that in a camry you would not get a glance at 5 mph faster...and that you are not speeding at all.

sure the car looks like it is going fast when standing still too...

On another note ....in my complex the limit is 15 mph, kids like to play in the streets which are fire lanes technically, so they tend to be on the narrow side...there is no street parking.

people just walk in the middle and stand there sometimes just cause they can, cars double park and usually they are large SUV's with one person in them...this is the way it is...so i adjust my speed to 15 or less, it is not worth the chance of pissing off an neighbor who is unbalanced to begin with and has no boundries...we have them in our complex...and i am not interested in hitting some kid who loves to play in the street even though the protected park is 25 feet away.

the car sounds loud stock....that engine makes noise, it looks fast while going slow...and most folks don't care to test their perceptions with a radar gun...so i take it easy ...especially since i live there.

Sure sure, not criticizing you, just saying I myself would be more inclined to err on the side of caution and make the other person overly aware that I understand where they're coming from, even if I don't agree with them and KNOW they're wrong to avoid any kind of further retaliation from them.

Then again, where I live now I still have out of province (that's like a Canadian state jk) plates and my car would be easily recognizable in a parking lot when I'm not in it if I pissed off the wrong person who happened upon it sometime.
