New car questions
I've recently purchased a s2000 with the help of the FAQ on this forum, but I have 2 more questions.
The rear tire wells look like they have no fender lining facing the exhaust - I can easily see the exhaust through the tire well. Is that normal?
There was also a rip in the soft top above where the latch on the drivers hand side was. The dealer patched it up but did not replace it the soft top. I read that some people have had Honda replace it for free or for little cost with it still under warranty. (the s2000 is a 2007 with 34k miles which should still be under warranty) Will they still replace it even though the dealer patched it up?
Thanks!

Congrats on the new (to you) S2000.
The rear wheel wells that you describe are normal, you can see through the back and view the exhaust.
For the top, if your car is still under warranty you should be able to get a replacement top. There is a TSB (TSB 09-033) for this and there is no mention of just patching as a solution. You can see the TSB in this thread, (4th post down):

If the warranty period is over, people have had different experiences. Some dealers will replace under goodwill, sometimes the expense will be partially covered, and some won't do anything. You may need to call the regional rep for American Honda to get the ball rolling.

There are two kinds of calls to the Honda district rep:
1. This guy is a good customer. We've made a lot of money off him over the years here in the service department. I mean, he's a cash cow. Can you, pretty please, help him out with this repair? Did I tell you we've made a ton of money off the guy?
2. There's some guy I never saw before in here asking if you'll " goodwill repair" his car. We haven't made squat off the guy; you don't want to take care of him do you? I didn't think so. Thanks.
