New Comptech CAI...... PIC!!!!!!!
Just ordered mine as well.
They said it should ship friday of this week or early next week. Course I'll have the intake before the car, but at least I can install it right away.
Should get the car in about 3weeks +/-.
NewR: I'm sure Honda could have gotten more HP out of the S, but then they would have cost more in the end.
Course thats in theory. They do make million dollar race cars, course those aren't for the street. The more time that's spent in the development area and in test cars the more they would have to charge us.
Yes / No / Maybe I'm crazy....?....?.....? What do you think?
All I know is I want it NOW!!!!!!

"I called Comptech and asked them about the #'s that had been posted by them earlier. They said it looks like the final peak HP will be around 6 and they weren't sure about the TQ increase. "
DARKNIGHT, first they told you a peak of 9 HP, and now peak of only 6? This is why we need facts. Before we buy, we need to make sure what this think really does.

Its ok, You don't have to, cause my wife does just fine that area!
Its true DMENACE021 about the numbers but I don't think its to bad for the price. I don't know its hard to say. Its been mentioned a million times. HP/TQ VS. Cost and Value and Preformance. You never know. I like the nice clean set-up and what not. IMO

I've come to look at modification horsepower estimations of improvement like a blind date. If one expects the woman to be HALF as nice as your bud swears she is (or in this case, the HP increase is half as nice), you're likely not to be discouraged. Take these introductory #'s and half them and chances are, you'll get an accurate reading of what to expect. Comptech CAI for 9hp? Bet the ranch on 4 or 5.
I am cautiously optimistic about the Comptech product. They are a reputable company that builds quality products. I do have a few concerns though. I have read just about every thread on this board related to CAIs. I understand the pros & cons when comparing the Mugen/Spoon/Mingster ram air design vs. the AEM/Injen vs. the RM Racing/Weapon R, etc. Comptech's design adds a new wrinkle to this equation.
So - I have two big concerns about the Comptech product:
1) That Comptech has simply re-purposed their S/C intake system and is marketing it as a CAI. When I buy a S/C from them, is a full 10% going to their intake? There seems to be a few new CAIs coming out (e.g, Roar, etc.). I'm worried that they didn't want to be left behind and just simply got on the bandwagon. Re-purposing in and of itself is not a bad thing when backed by tangible results. The thing was originally designed for a S/C setup because of engine bay space constraints - does that mean it will work just as well for NA cars?
2) I don't think there is a lot of data out there on CAIs that source air through the fenderwell. I understand that there are issues when dyno'ing a CAI. However, do we even have a baseline demo to argue about here?
I am VERY, VERY interested in getting a CAI for the car because I believe that a properly designed piece yields real benefit. However, to me, it seems like there is a lot of noise in the marketplace right now. Unless the Comptech design is proven (by 3rd party verification), then I'm afraid I'm going to have to go with the following hyrbid setup:
1) Mingster CAI duct
2) keep the stock airbox because I have to believe Honda put a lot of thought into it.
3) get the CF heat shield in between the engine and the box
4) get some insulation wrap.
No big weight change, no big $$. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE the Comptech piece but I'm skeptical...
