The problem with a CAI you can't really dyno it. The hp comes from when the car is moving, so you may not see gains from a dyno but when you are actually driving the car you should feel a difference.

Yet Comptech's CAI gains were measured from dyno testing.

Perhaps Comptech has access to one of those fancy wind tunnel dynos? I'd really like to see a photo of it installed. Anyone know if it's plastic or carbon fiber?

I called Comptech and asked them about the #'s that had been posted by them earlier. They said it looks like the final peak HP will be around 6 and they weren't sure about the TQ increase. He said that they hoped to have them ready to ship by next friday. They said that they will be posting the dyno plots on their website but they havn't done it yet.The final runs.

So whatever the plots say, in the real world out on the road it should be higher.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. I would think that with that kind of increase you would be able to feel the difference.(using the 1st HP + TQ increases)

But we'll see

later

That can depend on the CAI design. Not all get a boost from ram air effect. Many do provide a cooler air source or provide better insulation from engine bay heat than stock units.

The idea here's to draw the coolest air possible which is usually from outside the engine bay.

Just went to Comptech's site and the CAI is now available! Anyone with new information in regards to the performance numbers?

so far i'm not terribly impressed - $350 for a CAI... you can get AEM and Injen for far less money - is the performance that much better? the only benefit i'm seeing so far (from the very little info made available at this time) is that it is a simpler unit than an AEM, with no bend down into the fenderwell. will it pick up cold air the same as an AEM? it's nice not having to worry at all about water ingestion or bypass valves, but is the air just as cool? so far i'm not sold, but as any good salesman will tell you, sell me on it. show me why it's ~$100 better.
