Default New here, want a s2000

Hello everyone, Im 17 yrs old, live in Orchard Park, NY just south of buffalo, just recently I tottaled my 2002 WRX So after I collect the insurence money I am going car shopping, I own a 96 VW jetta for the winter lol. but when spring comes I want to buy a used s2000 with around 20k miles im looking to spend around $25k. Does this sound ok? I accualy had my heart set on a FD :cought: rx-7 93-95 but the reliability of those cars worrys me. Now can any of you give me any advice on buying a used s2000, and do you think its a good idea?

BTW! I am not just sum kid that has his parents pay for everything. I pay for everything (besides the car insurence which is in my parents name)

nice talking with you guys!

Get a 04+

17 year old kids and the early (in particular 00 and 01) S2000's do not match.

Call me all the names you want, cars are not toys, S2000's tend to snap oversteer and there is no such thing as a good teenage driver.

Where do you work? ;p

If the WRX was blamed on you I don't recommend getting a s2000...

1. It's more "provocative" then an WRX.
2. It has much higher insurance then an WRX.

damn, i feel sorry for your parents if you wrecked your wrx. because the insurance on the s2000 is already high even with a clean record.

as far as getting one, the only way to know for sure is to go out to the dealers, find a used one on the lot and take it for a test drive. then you will know for sure if you want it or not. and yes, they can be had within your budget.

I was. That's a bad generalization.

I race snowmobiles in the winter.. thats my job.. so I do have enought $ to buy one.. and Teenage drivers are bad? ok I dont have more experiance than you but it don't mean im a bad driver, and the crash was due to a deer running infront of me and the only place I could go was the ditch, How much more insurance $ are we talking about over a wrx.. the wrx is just as high performance as a s2000?

Buy another WRX... Or an Integra Type R... If you want to be able to drive fast easily FWD or AWD are going to be a better match for you. I personally don't think at 17 I would have been experieced enough to handle a light weight RWD car that is prone to snap oversteer.

This car must be respected or your going to hurt yourself. PERIOD. I used to be able to drive my Integra R like Pierre Kleinubing around the strret and track... but the second I got over confident in my S2000 I was humbled and very scared- literally shaking.

Don't buy the s2000 because you think it is a panty dropper or because there was a pink one in Fast and Furious. Wait until you can handle a car with characteristics like the ones I mentioned above.

Nope, nowadays if you're a good teenage driver you are most definitely an exception to the rule.

i was paying 120/month on my 99 accord.

when i got my 04 s2k and i was getting quotes, they ranged from 209/mo (wawanesa: california/washington drivers only) to a whopping 640/mo. (i think that was 21st century) and a $hitload quoted in the 400/mo range.

it aint cheap for a single driver and there is no way around it. the best thing you got goin for you right now is the multicar discount.
