I dont think anyone here has said they are a racecar driver except me, but i can back that up. Use your head and stop being so close minded towards young drivers. All racecar drivers today start at a young age, i started at 13 and thats comparitively old to many other racers. Either you are born with an ability to drive and have a certain sense of speed and the feeling of what the car will do next, or you dont. steve c, you probably dont have that since you have been instructed many times and still havent found speed in your driving. Im just saying you either have "it" or you dont. What racing schools have you been to steve c?

The majority of this posting is a joke...the bottom line is if you're sideways in a subaru, or backwards in an S, you shouldnt be driving either one. These are cars. Not go carts. Everyone needs to grow up a little bit, whether you're 16 or 50. Oversteer MAY be an issue for some, but if it is, you shouldnt be driving on the road. You should be on the track (if you experience oversteer while on the street, you are driving wrecklessly and you know it). I say buy the car, drive it with some sense, and you'll be fine; just like everyone else on this forum.
You've never experienced oversteer on the street? Not due to changing road conditions? Not due to evasive manuevers because of someone else's brain fart? Not due to having a little fun on a lonely backroad? Never?

Then how do you know how to react when you need to be evasive? When there is an unexpected surface change? Every driver should know EXACTLY what their car is capable of so that they know what their car is NOT capable of.

I drive my car agressively when it is safe to do so. I do this because I need to learn how it will behave when I need to ask for everything it has. The only thing that has changed about my driving as I've gotten older is that now my judgement about when it is safe.

You show your age there. Any driver can be made better with proper instruction. As you get older your ego will subside and you will realize this. If you want to be a good racer this is a requirement now.

I'm also a pilot and have been a licensed pilot for 16 years. At 14 I could legally fly a glider solo, at 18 I had my commercial rating. Natural or not, there is a reason you don't see 18 year old kids flying 747's. The same logic; experience equals capability can be applied to the automotive world. I do not expect any teenager to understand this concept; I did not when I was that age.

..Plus thats reality anyways,Majority of teens are reckless and uneducated and when it comes to driving, and you cannot deny that..thats all part of growing up.Steve C cracks me up though

BTW! I am not just sum kid that has his parents pay for everything. I pay for everything (besides the car insurence which is in my parents name)
Actually, it is the other way around. You should only get it if your parents are paying for it.

Since your parents dont pay for your car, you should not spend $25K on it IMO. 17 yr old, going to school (I assume) and working part-time for a $25K car? Thats just crazy. If your parents are paying for it, I wouldnt care if you drive a $100K car, as long as you drive it responsibly.

OK, 1st of all this goes out to the elders telling me i can't respect a car of that speed and performacne.. i race both snocross and motocross.. My mod snowmobile has 185+ hp and weights a lil over 400 lbs.. I can control power.. 2nd of all im not going to drive a s2000 lika maniac... I know how to respect cars and the stereotype of a teenage driver is sh*t. yes theres a ton of kids who cannot and shouldnot drive fast cars, I dont belive i am one of them... there are A LOT of good drivers that r teenagers!

Thanks to everyone who backed me up!

I know with instruction you get better steve c, i wasnt disagreeing with you on that at all because i still have an instructor for me as well. And i also understand the concept that doing something on a regular basis, like racing or flying, you will naturally become better at it. the ONLY thing im trying to get across to you is that saying there are no good teenage drivers out there is ridiculous. Go take a look at Nelson Piquet and Keke Rosbergs sons, they are in their teens just like me and are over in europe now testing for Williams BMW and racing Formula 3 and smoking everybody...but whatever, talking about this is useless and stupid now since nobody will listen to what i have to say...
