red blur -

then don't check it. calling it a cop out is silly. I call it a "suggestion" so that you have the "opportunity" to see that it's low before something bad could ever happen. Am I wrong in my interpretation? Is there something wrong with the knowledge of knowing my oil level? Over christmas I drove 200 miles to see family and 200 miles back in the S. I checked before going, and before coming back. I didn't have to add anything. But, for me, I have peace of mind. And I gotta say my S hasn't burned a drop since I bought it.

People can do whatever they want, but this guy is trying to sue Honda because of his ignorance which I think is silly, and he's spewing his anger at the good people on this forum who asked and suggested things like Honda checking the ECU for over-rev, or if indeed checked his oil. I don't know that he EVER checked his oil. His engine blew up. Maybe he should have checked. Maybe checking wouldn't have mattered. I certainly don't know.

I say everyone do what they want - whatever makes them happy. But I disagree with his generalization about the s2000. I just don't think it's realistic. Maybe if this was fordPintoInternational.com, then he would have a perfectly valid point.

folks,

I've been spoiled by Honda. I have a '92 2 dr Accord with 185K + miles on it that doesn't consume or leak one drop of oil between 3K oil changes. I got so used to checking the oil and everything being fine that I no longer bother.

Now we have my '02 S2K... I read the manual and took note of the check the oil at every fill up requirment. My mind registered 'yeah, Honda covering themselves' but what the heck, this car is a toy and playing with toys is fun so I'll check it "just in case".

I'm glad I checked it as recommended. First few times, minimal consumption. Then one fine day - halfway between F and L. What? What's wrong with my car? Better check it often. I ended up consuming about 1/2 quart by the time I hit 3750 miles and completed the first oil change.

Needless to say, I continue to check the oil as recommended to ensure that my baby is properly nourished.

Too Fast,
Sounds like your Daddy needs to bail you out and buy you a new car. By the way BMW M3's have an engine issue on the '02 and they leave pieces on the road. Grow up, and deal with your ignorance. You wasted your engine, daddy will make it better!

Just my .02 cents

I dont know why most of you bought your Honda, but I bought mine because I have that American veiw of Honda = Build Quality this is my third Honda (fourth including my lawn mower), but on the High reving (14,000) motorcyle that I had I had abosolutly no oil consumption. On the semi-sports car Prelude SH I also had no oil consumption. I don't get the concept of having to check the oil every 300 miles. IMO that is a bunch of bull. Correct me if I am wrong but isnt one of the biggest selling points of cars (HONDAS in particular) Build quality? And isnt one of the most unusual things of this sports car is that it has "Honda Quality"? I certainly considered that when I bought mine!! What justifies checking the oil every time you fill up because of oil consumption? Poor build quality? Do you rebuild your motor after every time you go out fpr weekend cruise? Like you say this is not a F1 race car so it should not be treated like one! ie. checking the oil after every use. This is a Honda, and also a car available for every dumbass that has enough money to purchase one. NOT every one out there has the time to leasurely check the oil all the time. I personally have been driving mine for almost 20k and with plenty of spirited driving without checking the oil accept on the 3000 mile oil change and hell I dont even check it then. I must be lucky.
Despite all of my rambling I think that this kid has a valid claim and that he should be compensated for his problems. Condradiction....

Actually that was worth about $.01 cents, and for anybody foolish enough to listen to it, it is probably worth about $15,000 and a garage floor full of s2000 engine parts.

If his username means what it looks like it means, it would appear he's another owner suffering from "sour grapes"? And take a look at this statement he made:

Bottom line toofast,

99.9% of us love our S2000 and have had little or no problems with it. Now you had a problem with yours, whether it was your fault or someone else's...you sold it...you still have your beloved Bimmer...and everyone's happy.

on the oil checking thing-

Just checked my oil and I was about 1/4 quart low, with about 1100 miles on this oil change. I haven't checked it in two weeks and it only took me 2 minutes. (phew, I'm all tuckered out! ) While I'm not worried about blowing up my car, I still topped it off. I don't have cancer, but I still get a physical once a year. No harm in looking.

on toofast4u -

good riddance. I hope he finds happiness with his BMW. I've got to say though, it seems like he went from buying the car to blowing it up to a lawsuit to being flamed to having a motor rebuilt and the car sold in what ? 4 days? He sounds like a troll to me. I don't see why he just didn't say: "enjoy your cars, and i'm gonna go enjoy my bmw, ya'll have a nice day", instead of stirring the hate. Shoulda chose the name: toorude4u

here's to s2000's with plenty of oil and smiles!
