10 Important Points You Should Know About Your New S2000
and number 1 should be this forum's URL.

Yes, a lot of this information is in the Owner's manual. I read mine from cover to cover before I took delivery, and of course I was lucky enough to have found this great forum where I learned WAY more than through the dealer or Owner's Manual.
It just seems as if Honda could eliminate a lot of potential problems if they would just take time to educate S2000 new buyers a little more...

Red Blur...thanks you for your input...you're right...checking your oil every 300 miles is good...but not required, and saying that I'm a irresponisible car owner for not doing so is hilarious

And SJSHARKS...I shouldn't have to remind you, but where is all the power on the s2000? I'll give you benifit of the doubt and say anything above 5500 rpm, but we both know it's a higher than that. So with a few mods, you torque will fall well below 100. So yeah, you're right...you may have 240 hp at the crank, and say you add mods to give you 240 at the wheel...but it is useless if you can never use it. You yourself are saying it is irresponsible of the driver to drive his car near redline...but in this car...if you want any power you need to drive it right there in the 7-9k rpm range. Why do you think this engine has more problems than their civic or accord engines...it's because Honda mechanics are use to building a sports coupe that can handle that much stress...and before you guys say it's the same mechanics who built honda formula race cars...let me remind you...this isn't a formula race car. They are "slightly" different....
Toofast, Wrong again, man you need to quit while you are behind..
Honda did indeed call on the services of some of their F1 engineers in the design of the S2000 engine.
This is really too easy.

you miss understood me sharks...I know the enginneers were from the F1 car...but the s2000 isn't a f1 car...it's a sports coupe...also the f1 cars are tuned differently...it's comparing raw meat (F1) to an apple (s2000)...there is no comparision
I'm with Gabedude
I sure am glad I have an 03 with the 4 hole banjo bolts.
Miles = 1800
Consumed 1/2 quart of oil in that period. Oil still looks very clean. Still breaking in and getting faster. I check oil once a week along with tyre (love the way our brit bros spell tyre) pressure.
my 2 cents

Toofast,
I didn't say it was irresponsible for the driver to drive their car at redline......I said it was irresponsible for YOU to drive your car at redline.
It's kinda like comparing raw meat to an apple.

Its real simple people: Honda built the engine and says in the manual to check the oil at specific intervals, why would you argue with the engine's maker?. They say this for a reason. Because the engine needs it. This is they way its designed. Would you buy a Ferrari and not check the oil until 3,000 miles? If you waited that long you would be foolish, because the engine simply won't last as long if it isn't maintained. To say this engine is a POS because the you can't follow the directions is pathetic. Take some responsability for yourself and your car. And follow the instructions. Plain and simple.
The car isn't a BMW, don't expect it to behave like, that's your first mistake. I wonder if you even checked the oil when you bought the car.
And it's pretty universal the ALL car manuals state to check oil level EVERY TIME YOU FILL UP.
I'm begging the question: why would you buy a car that runs to the ragged edge of performance for a production car, and then not make sure that it's running optimally every chance you get? I don't get it.
If you want a car that you never have to maintain, buy a thirty year old mercedes.
Good luck with American Honda, they suck, but as for your maintanence routine, you get no sympathy from me.
OH! and guess an rx7 must REALLY be a POS since it consumes oil as PART OF ITS DESIGN!, having oil injectors to shoot oil onto the rotors. Sheesh....

Yes they engines aren't EXACTLY the same. That STILL doesn't let you off the hook for checking your oil. It's not black and white. Well, I mean, it is in the MANUAL.....
