Default new owner: have 2 questions

picked up a 03 S silver/red.. i luv the car, color, everything

2 questions tho:

1. the shift knob when tightenend doesnt line up properly, rather the numbers are facing the passenger side. how do you correct this?

2. there is some rattling going on where roof meets the windshield on the passenger side. is this common? should i take it in the dealer for warranty repair? or will they not likely fix this? thx!

My shift knob is like that too. It doesn't bother me, cuz I don't look down my knob when I drive.

As for the rattling noise, I was wondering what the hell it was at first too, it's the passenger visor...ah, i've gotten used to it. Maybe other people have found a fix for it. I have never bother to ask.

You can put some lint in the knob... or some cotton and it should line up correctly

The rattling could be numerous things... you may have the rattling strikers or it could be the passenger seat...

Many people use a little locktite to keep their shift knobs lined up properly. One of the better upgrades you can get for the car is a countersunk voodoo knob though.

As for the rattle its hard to say without hearing it. But it sounds like it would be worth having the dealer look at to save you the effort.

My roof rattles constantly too when going over bumps and driving slowly so I assume its a hardtop thing that has to be put up with. I'm gonna call my local dealership to see if it is something they'll sort under warranty and I'll let you know the outcome.

The HT has to be greased regularly

I have the Voodoo kob and love it but it still is off center...

Is this an OEM shift knob? Or an aftermarket shift knob? If it's OEM then the shift pattern should line up, unless someone has tamper with it. There's a locknut underneath the knob. Loosen the locknut with an open wrench and align the knob then tighten the locknut. If it's an aftermarket knob then use loctite as previously mentioned.

Sounds like the shiftknob locknut mister_two mentioned is missing. It's like a $2 part.

Taking the car in for warranty on the rattling roof latch will certainly cause no harm.
