could you be a little bit more detailed. like what color your getting it painted and etc. But 1800 is a good price for a whole car paint job, does this shop have a good reputation and have you seen their work in person?

My car is berlina black. I was thinking to repaint it black again but then i cant help but want the laguna blue. Im still debating but yes i was driving down a street and saw a chrysler 300 with a really nice two tone paint job. So i dropped in and sure enough it was the bosses car. I talked to him and he told me where he got it done at. Really nice paint job no specs, drips, or any kind of blemish on the paint and he said he hasnt even wash the car yet. He said they messed up on one of his doors and they repainted it for him. I think its a clean job so as soon as i get my front, sides, and back kit then im gona get it painted.

If it were me and I owned your black S I'd try something radical like going "Matte Black"...sort of like a chalkboard kind of look. I know it would show handprints or something like that but a light black color would be cool.

I know Sport Compact Car magazine sanded down a Subaru STi and it looked absolutely mean in matte black. Maybe the S would look cool like that as well...

Yeah, go for something different. Don't repaint the car another stock color.
If you want to go blue, do something custom.

1800 for what exactly?? if they are claiming factory style paint (inside doors, engine bay, inside trunk etc etc) then that price is way under bid and will probably be the same quality as maaco or earl shive.

Factory style paint jobs would require the engine being pulled and the whole car being basically dissassembled (trim and lights etc etc). The labor alone would be well over 2000 dollars.

If it was even a simple full outside only paint job, the price would be well over 2000 dollars.

IMHO you will be getting a simple tape off and quick shoot paint job for that price and it will be riddled with quality issues and problems at that price.

save the money and do it right .

JUST BE CAREFUL, IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE

Thumbs down

+ you are getting the kit painted too??!?!?!?!?? What about test-fitting and bodywork to make the kit work?????????

The price they quoted is WAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY off.

Do more research and make sure they are a good shop.

With a project of this size and magnatude, saving money up front like this is not the smartest way to go.

You get what you pay for in this situation. I am not jumping your case here... just offering some strong words of advice from someone who has some experience in painting their cars.

BTW 5 working days to complete the work is also a pipe-dream, figure more like 4-6 weeks unless they have zero other work and devote all their time to your car (if this was the case I would be worried about the shop even more so. Busy shop = good shop usually )

1800 would only be semi-reasonable if you get the car repainted in black so they wouldn't have to paint anywhere like the engine bay, etc since it wouldn't require much disassembly at all. I still wouldn't trust a paint job that costs this much on a car I really cared about. My last paint job cost me $6,000. You get what you pay for.
