New Product in the Store!!
I have one of these enclosures with an 8" Polk subwoofer. This past week I did some frequency testing with a sound level meter.
The system was strong down to 40 hz and was still putting out at 33 hz. These readings were taken from the driver's seat. This clearly indicates that installing a sub in the trunk presents no serious acoustic problem. Also, that one 8" sub in this type of enclosure may satisfy most people's requirements. There isn't that much information below 30 hz. on CDs (unless you listen to alot of pipe organ music).

Extracting SQ out of a convertible has always been a stereo installer's nightmare, but I've heard a couple that really sounded good, even with the top down at higher speeds (nothing insane, just like 75 mph or so).
I don't expect it to sound as good as, say, a hatchback would, but I would like some kind of comparison as to how this setup sounds while driving. As someone else in this thread mentioned, I'm not planning on making any whimsical decisions about a $30k+ car.
Someone sell me on it -- either the JL enclosure or the WLAURENT enclosures.

Although I don't have them installed in my car as of yet, I can attest to their above average production of sound, as I have experienced them first hand in WLAURENT's S2. First off, the SQ is quite impressive for a convertible vehicle...the amount of bass provided from two 8" subs, is remarkable. Expectedly, the sound is not as "crisp" as in a solid roofed vehicle, but I don't suspect the enclosures to be at fault. Overall, a great value in my opinion!
I wanted to chime in on williams subwoofer enclosures. Got a pair of them running for 2 months now. I like my music very loud and very clear and i listen to alot of zztop and other heavy r&b which must have strong bass . The enclosures have the 8" rf punch woofs and i am powering with a 250watt rf "power" amp. The sound is really, really good. IMHO the enclosures leave the important trunk space free. That's the deep well where my flat tire or anything big goes and where all the stuff goes for a trip etc. In addition i can pull out 1 woofer or both in a minute 4 max space and 1 speaker sounds good too. THe quality of the enclosures is terrific. I have seen custom enclosures built from suck fibreboard at the local speaker city store that cost more than these. In particular i'm thinking of some crap enclosures i saw there for under the rear seat of my dodge ram truck for several hundred each, what a joke! If you have a good buddy who will build u something real cheap great, but if u are stuck with paying retail these are a great deal. I also installed car stereo systems professionally, so i think i've seen alot of gear. William was great with advice, help and whatever was needed to get me the stuff quick and installed easily. I'm not talkin bout the enclosures, any grandma could pop them in, i mean the choice of amp, wiring etc. If you live in the San Francisco bay area and wanna hear 4 yourself just drop me a pm and cruise on up to marin county 4 a listen!
I love the way these babies look! I am planing on getting a pair I just have to save a little. How much money will I need to save? I know the enclosures are around 370, an the HE's are about 70 a pair but what about the amp? How much power will I need? Also do I have to replace the stock speakers and head unit? If so what is a good choice and how much will it cost to be done? Im looking at around 600 dollars
