Default New Rear Window

We just got our rear window replaced under warranty at Weir Canyon Honda in Anaheim, CA. Ours was the third they'd done. The first took about a day-and-a-half, the second took a day, ours was done in about six hours. It looks great!

Wow! I can see out the (entire) back window again!

Just out of curiosity, what was your reason for getting them to do this under warranty??

I'm not sure I understand the question.

If you're asking why we wanted it done under warranty, well, that should be obvious: so that we don't have to pay for it.

If you're asking how we got them to do it under warranty, that was easy: we said "We don't think the read window should be getting so messed up (wavies through it and so on)," and they said "You're right. We'll order a replacement and install it for free."

As I say, they've done three: ours, a friend's, and someone else's. I'd supposed it wasn't uncommon.

When I took my car in for its first service after I had owned it about a year, I asked them to look at the rear window, but didn't specifically request that they replace it. My dealer offered to replace it under warranty, which I was happy to accept. It took them longer than they had anticipated, but my policy when having others work on my vehicles is "take as long as you need to do it right". I didn't mind being without it an extra day for an excellent installation job.

Now that I've learned how to avoid both scratches and creases, I don't expect to have to replace the rear window again.

I just went down to my local dealership (Beaverton Honda) and asked about my rear window...They gave me a Honda Bulletin on how to maintain and clean the window, but said that they would not replace it under warranty! I have tried many of the cleaners and polishes, but to no avail...my rear window is still scratched and cloudy! I bought my S used, and I guess the previous owner just passed along the problems to me! Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to get this replaced? I talked with the service manager...he was a really nice guy, but said no on a warranty replacement.

I know this is a constant issue for us, but I had some good luck with mine. I bought my S2000 used with 2000 miles, and the rear window was BAD. It looked like it was cleaned with sandpaper. Some time ago I worked in a sheet plastics shop, and we used a product line called NOVUS. I always had some on hand for my motorcycle fairing. Anyway, I tried to find Plexus (FAQ section), and could not find any locally. I decided to try my NOVUS stuff. I had a bottle of scratch remover and a bottle of cleaner/polish, and this stuff was amazing ! My window looks like new, and I could not believe how well it worked in getting out all the haze and most all of the scratches. I would definitely recommend these products.

Hey, Weir Canyon Honda is where I bought my car. I haven't taken it back there for anything, since it's so far away. Good to know that they gave you such good service. My buying experience was great with them.
