New S2000 Rendering & Info from Autocar
At least it's not going to be an MR (mid ship rear), like it was described in recently previous articles (the articles that showed pics of the "new patents" that looked like a baby-NSX). I'm glad it won't be a baby-NSX either - way too loud, supercar-looking, and not clean/simple/modest/timeless. That would've sucked if they went that route and would be a completely different car than the original S2k.
Also, idk if the engine should be a "detuned" version of the upcoming Civic Type-R. Shouldn't it be equal, or even better?? I mean, when the S2k came out, the F20 engine was way better than the Civic and Integra Type-R B-series engines. Imo, the new S2k engine (and car) should be at least equal, ideally better, than the current Civic Type-R engine (and car). Afterall, it's a flagship model and obviously a step above the Civic Type R.
Those render are fantastic and look clean. I'd be happy if they made it close to that, spent a lot of time to make sure it will be timeless and will grow nicely with age after a decade or so and isn't too "modern," ricey nor too futuristic looking. As far as mechanicals, I'd be happy if they kept it as close to the original S2k - midship FR, roadster, raw, tight handling, simple, no frills, all performance.

I'm excited. It made the top of my trending list on FB.
300hp please. I'm fine with some electric assist. I will need a bigger garage if they produce this S. I like what I'm seeing.

Won't believe it til I see it, and even when they confirm something these days (i.e. NSX) it's years before they release it and by then the car's irrelevant.
Also, manual transmission please.

Exactly. by the time it comes out, it'll be outdated already. I've never been a fan of Fords. but if I had to choose between Focus ST and new civic si, i would pick the focus. After I sold my 98 Integra Type R, I vowed to never buy another FWD honda, because I felt like I owned the best FWD Honda that Honda ever brought to the US. Since then, all of Honda's new models have been crap. I love my AP1, and love how it, just like my ITR, is a drivers car. No frills, no bullsh#$, pure driving excitement. Highly doubt this new "S2000" could replicate that nostalgic feeling.
If they come up with anything, I will probably be interested. The number of relatively inexpensive sports cars can be counted on one hand these days, and two if you stretch it to include gts and coupes. There is nothing exciting right now and little on the horizon.
