New S2000 Rendering & Info from Autocar
It'll be a car fixed at the dealer rather than your garage, and a car that's fast through its interpretation of your inputs rather than actual driving experience.
They did it right the first time
although I wish we had ITBs from the factory...
Yeah, the NSX is probably the biggest disappointment in the history of Honda (anticipation & expectation wise from the previous legendary model)
But, the Civic Type R seems like the total opposite - seems like a pure track and performance focused car. Heck, I bet it's even faster around the Nurburgring than this new 2016/17 NSX lol.

Pretty nuts that the new CTR is even faster than the older NSX Type-R (which is known to be hardcore).

But yeah, I totally agree ...the "new" NSX is more about technology, daily-driving, luxury & grocery getting... and of course looking like an Audi. And, Not about being a "pure" sports-car any longer. SMFH.
So, it can either go one of two ways:
1. Similar to the new NSX - More about new technology, innovation, daily-drivability, a super-car for a soccer mom, looking like an Audi.
or
2. Similar to the new CTR - More about Killing it and F'ing sh*t up on the track. While, everything else is secondary.

It’s not as easily playful as a 488 or an R8 because those pesky front motors always ultimately want to drag the car straight again. But it is way more fun than I’d imagined it would be and, most importantly, it demonstrates the depth of chassis development that has been undertaken to make this car worthy of the NSX badge.
If the Type R comes with a turbo and is pushing 300+ to the wheels and it still feels like an S then im sold. If they try to put some pussy engine in there that doesn't even make 200 then no way.
in before mint/rare

Look at the history of the Mitubishi Eclipse. First gen, good car, lots of potential, built a solid rep. Each successive generation, it got dumbed down, neutered as a sportscar. But guess what? It sold more. Lots more.
The S had a purpose built, focused drivetrain and suspension, unique to this model. That is part of what made it so special to drive. The new car, there is all this talk of what shared engine and what shared platform it will use.
They may be able to make it put it bigger, faster numbers with a parts bin strategy, but it won't have that special driving feel that makes us all such die hard S fans.
The problem is most enthusiasts aren't like us. All they care about are numbers, not driving feel. The what cars will it beat attitude.
My fear is they will build a much more successful, more profitable car, but we the hardcore fans will not like it as much.
