New S2000 worth it?
I'd rather have an S2000 than a Z-4 any day of the week. The comment that it is "Just A Honda" is just plain Ignorant. I would rather have a top of the line "honda," than a POS 3 series or Z4 BMW
The S2000 is a timeless design and will look great for years to come

There's seems to be this mentality amongst many that if they haven't made any updates to a design, it's outdated. If a design is as close to perfection as one can engineer it to be, why not leave it alone?
Why don't you test drive the S2000 and the Z4 and decide for yourself based on the merits that are important to you?
This is an S2k forum after all, what answer were you expecting

Hi all,
I've been wondering if buying a new s2000 is worth it. In the sense that, you're paying for a 7 year old design.
Similiarly, I've thought about a Z4 M but again, it has the old m3 engine from 2000 in there.
Would an 04-05 CPO be the best deal here?
Thanks

What's wrong with the 'old' M3 engine? At least it's been around for some years and it's proven it's reliability... Who knows what the first V8 M3's will suffer from? Probably nothing, but only in time you'll know...
I'd say, if you want S2000, go with the glass rear window and if you care, go with the VSA for security
Design on the honda is a classic design. It's never going to be outdated.
It's long on the front with flaired fenders, and short and high up tail.
i mean, that designs been done so many times, you can't go wrong with that.
that's the same design principle with z4's roaster design. long front, short and high rear end.
it's just manufacturers vary little bits and pieces here and there, but can't go wrong with both of the designs.
They both have great chasis, both with great engine in different class (with BMW M's engine being international engine of the year in 6 cylinder and s2000's engine being international engine of the year in 4 cylinder catagory).
Only thing is that s2000 would have a better transmission, gear box than z4, but z4 would have a nicer and roomier interior (unless it's full red like mine
).
if you guys say there are a lot of room in the s2000, you really haven't sat in the z4 yet. It's day and night difference in room.
The ultimate question would be:
1. are you going to track your roadster or is this to show up at events and ride around for the top down fun?
- s2000 is definitely a better track car than Z4, but Z4 is just a better cruise around town for top down fun car. It's more civilized than a wild rampant animal that is s2000.
2. Do you have paris hilton money or Gary coleman money?
-Z4 M is just way too much money, even used. Used or new s2000 would be sane sort of money for purchase price as well as maintanance and tire money.
3. Are you a large bloke or medium size bloke?
-you just have to go sit in it. you need to just see if you could live with it daily.
good luck with the purchase.
- thing about my gf, she's got long legs, and since the seats are so low, it's hard for her to get her legs out and propell herself out the passenger seat.
I have the same problem, but my shoulders are wide, so I have hard time trying to squeeze out.
