The S2000 looks like a real convertible with the top down...if you really want to waste time, put the boot on, other than that it looks like a real car and shows off its top with pride.

By the way, I didn't even drive the Z4, it was on my list of cars to drive, one sit in the thing and I didn't even waste my time driving it. It has to rank near the top of ugly interiors with all that plastic and the seats were not even close to the S.

There isn't a reason in the world that anyone should ever buy this car.
Most people who have an ounce of reason will eventually come to their senses and buy somethin else.
The above paragraph proves that only the unreasonable 1%'ers. will ever truly escape the mainstream.
When someone looks at you, they are admiring the car and at the same time the're
wondering what kind of fool actually bought one and maybe wondering if they could actually become a fool someday too.
I had this feeling about my salesman and the Honda dealer when I bought my S
I felt I knew they were thinking " Why doesn't he buy an Accord and if he wants to be sporty, a two door Accord with a sunroof"
Oh well, the S2000 line is short. I always loved short lines.

The S2000 is NOT slow. I have had fast cars before, but my 2006 S2000 is the best car I have ever owned. The car was, and is, way ahead of its time. The S2000 continues to be the baseline (at least it should be) every car manufacturer shoots for when it comes to desgining and building a TRUE sports car.

Drove them both and purchased the S2000 last week. In the mid $29000 range for a new '07' S2000 it is a hard car to beat!

and yes sports cars were meant to have some get up and go from before 6k.
Come and take a ride in my S... It's as fast as a GTI till 6k rpm... So I'd hope to say it has at least SOME get up and go below 6k!

Besides, who say's all sportscars do have to have the power below 6k? REAL sportscars can rev to 8 or 9k and have some real balls up there, what about this statement?

agreed!

if you have to ask and your worried about compromise, then the S2k probably isn't the one.

Had a couple of Porsches and even a Miata. Was looking at a BMW ZM before I bought the s2000. Easy choice as an old WWII story comes to mind. In the European Theater there were two main big guns, the German and American Howitzer. German Howitzer was an engineering masterpiece but a maintenance nightmare with somewhere over 30 working parts. The American Howitzer was a maintenance dream with only 12 working parts. Guess which one was in service more?????????????????????

Honda makes a great car but you can always drive around in the fancy German car and become real close friends with the mechanic that keeps it going.

I agree with the ideas brought forth thus far. You should buy the car that you look at lovingly in the headlights (or taillights if your into that sort of thing). S2000's are way fun. But if you have to ask...

As for the "oh, its the old m3 engine", LOL! Thats a fantastic engine, it pulls hard, and is built like a rock if you don't drive it like and idiot and take care of all the maintenence on time.

The Comment earlier about the old m5 engine going in the new m3. I'd really like to see evidence of this. AFAIK, the new v8 weighs in 28-33lbs less than the 6 cylinder mentioned above. I'm confident this is an all new engine for the next generation of m3's.

I think that the best bang for the buck would be to get a 2004 S2000. It looks and drives almost exactly like a brand new one and you'll save about $10,000.

I don't think that you'll find more fun for under $25k.
