New top installer
Hello everyone. First post. Been reading for awhile. Lots of good info. I am about to purchase my first s2000 hopefully in the next week. A 2000 model with 54000 miles. Good shape. Only thing is the top will need replacing before too long. I have found lots of info and prices on soft tops, but the installation seems to be the worst part. I personally would rather pay to have it done, but from what I have read it is really expensive to have the dealer do it. My question is, are there many private companies or individuals who do this also. I live in northeast North Carolina and was wondering if anyone knows of a good shop to go to in the southeast Virginia or central and eastern NC area. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I was visiting friends in Philadelphia and had my roof slashed. By word of mouth I found an autoupolstery that does the work. They put in a Robbins top which looks really good. Labor was for 10 hours, but it was partly paid by insurance.
The Robbins kits come complete with instructions, so that it is not too hard for someone to do it themselves, and very easy for a shop that specializes to do so.
I would call around too, if you don't get many referrals here. ...
just my two cents. Good luck, hope you enjoy the car.
