I agree on the grip.
The new one feels much stronger.
But the noise is driving me crazy. I almost don't want to get on it because of the noise!

Oh, and I just sent the check in today to Dennis for the screen.
He did a great job on it, from what I can see in the pictures.

Hey Ldogdotcom, any Florida meets coming up?
Looks like there is a bunch of us down here.

Pntydrpr, I usually put the meets together and will be arranging one in the next few weeks. In fact, I'm taking my S2000 in for the tranny work at Classic in Orlando, and I'll be talking to them about hosting another meet, so watch Meets and Events for more info VERY soon...

Just a reminder to you Florida folks: I'm moving to TX in early Feb and am looking for someone to take over the "management" of the Florida meets and other such things. Anyone interested? I'm afraid there won't be any meets after I leave without someone to take over... any volunteers?

Ldogdotcom, did you and Dennis go to Classic for your tranny work? I was just over to his house on Friday and he put the grill screen on for me, a very nice couple aren't they? Let me know since I'll need to get the work done soon. Thanks.

No Rice, mine is at Classic for the tranny and seat belt recalls as we speak. GREAT people, terrific service. Don't miss our meet there on January 27th. More info at http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...p?threadid=4744

Hope to meet you there!

Yep, got my car taken care of at Classic, but it looks like I'll be heading back to get it fixed again. Oh well. Good guys, though.

And for Dennis? Yeah, he's the best. I drove his car (which he got fixed there, also) and it showed me that mine is not 100%.

SondraS2K, Ldogdotcom, Billy and the guys at Classic are great and feel very comfortable taking my car there. As for the meet, I'll definitely be there! See you then!

This was on the email list from our AHM engineer contact..

Hi all:

Honda recognized a noise coming from the transmission during deceleration most
notable between 4000 to 3000 RPM. To test it when you think you have the noise,
just barely touch the throttle, if the noise is gone then you have the
deceleration noise. It is normal in most other model cars but can not be heard.
In the S2000 since the transmission is about 3 inches from your knee and the
shifter is connected to the transmission you can hear it better.

The noise is actually the gears rattling around in the transmission because
there is not much force on them during deceleration. This is not a failure of
any part, but is rather annoying. In an attempt to help quiet the noise there
was a change in the clutch, given the theory that the engine pulses were
exciting the gears even though the car was decelerating.

The change was in the 3 inch friction washer that is between the hub halves
(that the springs dampen). There was no change in the friction material that
touches the engine flywheel and pressure plate.

If you don't use the engine to slow down you won't ever hear the noise. I was
driving another persons car in Southern California and I used the engine to
decelerate and the noise was there. The owner of the car almost jumped out of
the passenger seat when the noise came and he asked what it was. It turns out
that the way he drives he just disengages in the clutch and uses the brakes to
slow the car and he had never heard the noise in his car.

Hope this helps,
Woodwork

cdelena-That makes sense, but, in my car, the noise only came AFTER the new part went in. If the problem was always there, why did the new part make is worse?

Are you saying that we have to live with it?

I use the trany to slow my car down at times, and its not just something I recently started doing. I guess a slight noise was there in the original part, but I could have lived with it. But, the mechanic heard it, and said that the UPGRADED one will fix that. So, I said what the hell. Now, its 100 times worse.

To be honest with you, it is loud and annoying enough for me to do whatever it takes to fix it.

We will see next week. They said it would only take one day. I'll keep you guys posted.

Cdelena -

Thank you very much - I just talked with the dealership and of course they didn't know what i was talking about, but this new info will help clarify things a great deal...i plan on fixing this problem by spring time....(i hope ripping the car apart won't cause more problems)

thanks again!
