Hey guys- just registered this morning

I dont currently own an s2k and im sure you get a lot of forum posts such as this one.
I drive a 2003 worked up Mustang GT, but im tired of modifying it. The heaviness and sloppiness of the already worked suspension is taking its toll. I want a small fun car that has great potential to go fast come the time. I want solidity, stability, and great handling. The s2k seems to offer that, and it looks sweet too.

I want to get one. I'm in college, so there is no way im going to afford a brand new 2005 (if anyone has any ideas or deals theyve seen in the NY/Metro area id kiss your feet)
A 2005 would be ideal, but not realistic. I havent had any good luck with used cars. The 2 used cars I owned went on me and the dealer found excuses not to warranty the repairs. There goes that. But I know honda has a reputation for quality and I want to get some general consensus on how great a risk Id be taking by buying a "certified" 2002 s2k from a dealer.

For example, ive found a 2002 silver/black s2k for 23,000 USD and its got something like 24,500 miles on it, not exactly sure, give or take 1000 miles. Its at a honda dealer by my house, havent really driven or talked to the dealer about it yet. I went online and found it is certified. Id love this car, but I dont want a repeat performance of what happened with my last 2 cars, and with me telling myself "YOU NEVER LEARN"

Any input would be great. Thanks guys.

I don't think you can really go wrong with a certified used honda.

I've gotten an Integra, and my S2000 used and i've had no problems at all. Hondas, obviously, are known for their quality and ability to last forever. I'd say go for it!

This is all assuming a carfax of the car shows no accidents..

I usually buy new, but I made an exception this time, as the price, mileage and the color were right. I bought my 2004 S2K (2000 Miles)used at Carmax for $27K + Fees & Sales tax. Not sure if there is one in your area. It cannot hurt to check it out online. They run a Carfax on each car too, however I paid $20 to run my own on the vehicle. Better be save than sorry!

And as liebernoodle says, you probably cannot go wrong with a CPO from Honda. I would check all options that are avaible to you, as you have nothing to lose. You might lose at lot not checking all your options.

Good luck!

Bought mine almost 2 years ago, Honda Certified with 32k miles on it. I even bought Honda Care. I have minimal mods (headlights, springs, side-markers) and have yet to have any warranty or Honda Care claims denied.

However, if you plan on modding it before you pay it off, Honda Care is probably not worth it.

certified pre-owned is not HondaCare.

a CPO car has more protections, just like a new car warranty. HondaCare is different...it is a contract not a warranty. If you are uneasy about getting used, get a CPO. For all intents and purposes, it is like a new car with a longer warranty.

You might be able to get that 2002 by your house down to 21 or 22K. It depends on how long they have had it. In my area, used S2000s go fast.
