Certainly there will be a difference. There's a definite difference in how the physical throttle butterfly in the intake manifold is moved. That does not "have" to be a bad thing.

Many have been concerned that the implementation of the DBW will not be as good as the older throttle cable equipped cars. That concern has been motivated for the most part by a negative experience with DBW on other makes and models. That's understandable, but so far, we're not getting any negative feed back from those who have actually driven a '06 model. That might change at some point as more people gain experience with the car but why not wait until we get to that point.

That the throttle might feel weird with the car turned off would seem to me to be a given. All you're moving is the foot peddle and nothing else. What I'm more interested in is, how does the engine respond to those movements when the system is active?

you're totally right. i previously posted that the dbw wasn't necessarily a bad thing. but i think there has to be a difference in feel one way or another.

my previous audi had dbw and it wasnt that fun...definitely felt a disconnected feel as well. i really hope that Honda tuned it more for the sporty feel and responsiveness because it's pretty evident in the audi's and it's actually been documented; just cant recall the actual issue but it had to do w/ the linear ness of the throttle and there was some deadspots

You all forget that the Acura NSX/Honda NSX also features drive by wire and you wouldn't say that car's throttle resonse is bad would you?

Scott and I are going to have to set everyone straight - I ordered my new 06 months ago and the primary concern was that dreaded DBW that everyone was worried about -I drove my 04 (before sale) and paid very close attention to throttle response - I wanted to know EXACTLY how it felt in my old car...Fast forward to new car - Throttle response is smoother and perfectly linear, with no "dead spots, ala AudiTT" and NO LAG -Yes you heard right, NO LAG -I would dare say it is better(What?, no way!)_ I hate to shatter misconceived notions but maybe Honda did as good a job on this DBW like they did on the NSX -If you doubt my (our) words then please drive one and check it out!! Otherwise it is a proud addition to this lineage -With the beautiful blue color, tougher seats (no more lateral abrasions) smoother driveability, and other nice features -I definitely prefer it to my previous car...

You should bring it to the Christmas party, RStone. Everybody would love to check it out.

I might leave mine at home and bring one from the dealership to your party - in case no shows with an '06. Although it won't be Laguna blue.
