The first time it happened I thought I was delusional but it occurred again this morning on my way to work. The third bar lit up about 15 seconds later. Has anyone else noticed this?

 

I noticed not to VTEC unless there are three bars. sometimes i forget and get whiplash.

I think I've done it at 2 before, but it may have a seperate temprature gage on it... good question...

 

I think the VTEC limiter is set by coolant temp and not by the number of bars as such. If you got the 3rd bar 15 sec later, the temp was probably close enough that it allowed the revs to climb. There quite a range in each bar.
